Murky Depths II

The noon sun shines brightly, but it does not cut through the fog around me. I spot a marsh zombie nearby, and take aim. I let loose an arrow. The zombie falls and I lower my bow, this bow that is heavier than I remember it being. Ah, it is a new bow. I have new clothes as well, new armor. I step up to the fallen zombie and carve off a good deal of skin from its back. The merchant back in town had asked me to collect these skins for him to make special fertilizer. He intended to grow Nightshade in it.

A spiny leg moves by my peripheral vision. I look towards it. The prowler spider pauses, idly picking the blood off its two front legs. The blood of civilization's wolven companions. I kill it swiftly, and hack off a pincer. I put this trophy in a bag along with the others. Martin of Gludin would be satisfied with how many pets I've avenged today. Before heading there, I stop by the village and drop off the merchant's zombie skins. He pays me well for my work.
