OOC: First Memory (Sight and Taste)

Oct 02, 2009 07:15

It was the middle of the night. There was nothing all around her but forest and what was left of a few fragments of a broken eggshell.

There was nobody in sight anywhere.

But why? She had such a feeling she shouldn't be alone. Just a feeling, but it was a sincere one.

Was this all some kind of mistake? Some kind of trick?

It occurred to her that she was hungry - and thirsty.

She hopped over to a small stream of water running through the woods nearby and lapped it up, looking into her reflection; she was tiny, fluffy, and white, still with big black eyes and didn't look to have any limbs, hence the hopping.

Her expression took on a shy little smile as she drank. This wasn't a bad spot to be. The water was clear, and it tasted so clean and pure, too.

She took a hop back and looked around at the bushes interspersed between the trees, some of them berry bushes.

Food!

She bounced between them nibbling at a variety of berries, it almost leading her in a path from her original position throughout the foliage after a trail of food - it was interesting, how many kinds there were in such a small area of the woods, bitingly sour red ones, sweet and delicious blue ones, and - red ones so bitter it was disgusting. She spat them out with a gurgle with an underdeveloped worry she might have poisoned herself.

So if she just stayed here, she could take care of herself.

That sounded like a great idea - just stay put and see if anyone came to find her.

And they would. It was more than loneliness - it was something stronger than that. It wasn't just that she didn't want to be alone. She obviously wasn't supposed to be.

There was somewhere she was meant to be and someone she was meant to be with. She didn't know why or who, but that's how it was.

Whoever it was, they must be feeling like something's missing, too, and come to find her, wouldn't they?

Wouldn't they?

As rain started to fall, the limbless white kitten hopped to a little hollow created by the roots of a nearby tree and forced herself to fall asleep with hope on the brain and be ready to greet the one looking for her the next day.
