Where Have I Been The Last Five Days? Part II

Jun 12, 2004 02:07

(Monday) I woke up at the crack of gawdawful to get up for my little meeting with Lasnik. I wasn't as nervous as I thought I might be. I didn't have anything prepared or anything, was just going to ad lib it like I did before. Thank goodness my mom drove down with me... I was way too tired to do any driving.

It felt really weird going in the front instead of the back. When I got up to the room, J was sitting alone going over his papers. That was a little odd, walking in to that big cavernous auditorium-like chamber with the echoes of the traffic below, and just me and him. I waited fifteen minutes for my lawyers (both Tom and Tim) to show up, and I was very happy to talk with them again. I wish I could have met them under better circumstances, because they really are fun people. They informed me about the report to the judge, and how short it was. That was good... no news is good news.

When Judge lasnik did show up, it was a formal event. There was someone to record and everything, even though there was a sum of nine people present (including me). I was expecting maybe a little more in depth review of how I was doing, and all that was really asked was how I was doing in school and work. Aside from that, most of the fifteen minute meeting dealt with insurance. The only thing that really stood out about the meeting was how his honor described the flak he got for his decision, but mostly from people who didn't know the facts. He said how I was sure how that went, about people getting facts from unreliable sources. I agreed with him. I told him how my favorite radio guy on KIRO did a segment on me, and that he discovered how inaccurate some of the stories were. I was glad he brought that up.

In all, not much changed, but I came away feeling better about everything. I hope J and everyone else did too.

Later that day, I went to work and slacked off as much as a one truck night would allow. I got out at 12:30 again, but that night didn't stand out to me at all, except for the staying up late to talk to different people.

(Tuesday) I got out the door at 11AM with Cass so we could go hiking up at Big Four Ice Caves near Granite Falls. We bought us some sandwiches and things, and I prepared myself with a backpack as if it were a real hike. I always go prepared, and I am always greatful I do.

The drive in was very scenic and I was so excited to be out in the woods again. Going past streams and lakes, I wanted to jump in. I was a little worried that the hike would have been too short, but 2 miles was ideal.

So as we get to the end of the trail, we notice a camera crew is filming a pair of people on the hill above us. I thought they looked a little familiar, and the norwegian accent confirmed it. It was Cisco Morris, from Gardening with Cisco. Meeghan Black was also there, from KING 5. They were filming the segment for their July 3rd episode, and Cass and I got to talk to them for a minute. It was pretty cool. A pleasant surprise at the end of the trail, eh?

The ice caves were not as big as I had hoped. Damned global warming. However, we did brave the warning signs by entering the mouth of some of the caves. They were pretty deep, but judging from the millions of pounds of ice above it, we were not going to chance looking at them any closer. We did silly things like going in the waterfalls and skiing down some of the mini-slopes. We had a great time.

I came home about 6PM in time to go see my sister's band concert. It was pretty typical: boring. I endured it though, because my sister went through so many of mine. I was impressed with her booming tympani... and on a side note, I've never heard the theme for "Pirates of the Carribean" butchered so badly.

The only bad thing about Tuesday was that I saw an old friend who I used to competetively draw stuff with at the concert. His name was Jesse Card. I said hi to him, and he saw me, rolled his eyes and walked away. Yeah, figures. Nice to see people haven't changed much.

(Wednesday) The one year anniversary. I didn't notice it was until the day after. Eh, makes no difference. I spent most of the day doing chores... taking my mom to the doctor, dropping off movies, getting groceries, that sorta thing. Because my mom was sick, I also spent most of the day trying to get rid of the extra ticket, but everyone was either busy or didn't answer.

I was super excited to go to a game again. Even though I haven't watched much baseball lately, and the Mariners suck this year, it was still fun. I took my glove and a lucky ball with me to the game, just because I always take one. We got seats down near the left field foul pole on the 100 level. We got there with enough time to go and watch the batting practice, but I got no "souveniers".

When I got back to my seat, I discovered there were two girls sitting in front of me. I was nervous, but I eventually got to talking to them (thank you drunk fans for the cue). The cutest one was going to Western, and I nearly froze, but she had not started yet. Her name was Billie.

Around the fifth inning, a line drive foul ball entered our section. The ball took a bad hop twenty seats in front of us, ricocheted off an old lady, landed about ten feet to my right and bounced around. I dove for it, but some a-hole pushed my head down to get to it. I was pissed. That's when I noticed my lucky ball was missing. Paramedics had to be called for the old lady, and some fans started chanting for the guy who got the ball to give it to the old lady. The guy refused. He sat there terrified as 300+ people started getting pretty pissed off. That's when I noticed my lucky ball was sitting beneath the girl's chair. I asked her politely for my ball back, but she saw it, jumped up with it and said "I found it!" and was about to rush down to the old lady. She had the wrong ball. I yelled for her to stop, that she had the wrong one, and this created a problem. Now, some of the 300+ angry fans thought that I had the game ball and that I wasn't giving it up. Several people started glaring at me and pointing. I hate that. Luckily, the guy caved in and did the right thing, and took the pressure off me. Yeah, I've never seen a mob turn on a stranger so fast. Intersting. Even if I had caught the game ball, I would have given it to the old lady.

The rest of the game was exciting... the new center fielder made a spectacular catch, and Ichiro made a diving stop in front of him. It didn't matter, they got shut out 3-0. It was still fun though.

Got a few things at the gift store. An Ichiro action figure, a collectors baseball featuring Kazu (who retired), and wine glasses for my sick mom that had two different M's logos.

So yeah, I had a very eventful five days. I'm sure I'm leaving out a bunch of things because I was overloaded. It will be interesting to see if I can adapt to this trend.
