Today's Post is brought to you by the letters H, O and the number 5.

Or is it the letter H and the numbers 5 and 0?

Anyway.

I was just minding my business this morning, laying in bed when Hawaii Five-0 decided to hijack my thoughts.

So, they've introduced a new facet of Danny's character with the unveiling of the fact that he's claustrophobic. And despite the fact that I can't really recall his character ever shying away from enclosed spaces before, the writers kept with relative continuity by later bringing up the phobia again in a later episode. Good reminder to the audience that this is part of his character (growth/development of the understanding of the mind of the character). Also could possibly be an instance of foreshadowing future events.

That was a bit redundant.

So I've been hearing whispers on the net of what's coming up this season of H50.

Apparently:

[Spoiler (click to open)]
Steve and Danny get kidnapped. (Can you really kidnap a grown person?)

But I can just see Steve and Danny being in a situation where Danny's phobia is going to be brought to the forefront. They're going to be trapped in some small space and Danny's going to freak and Steve's going to either have to placate him or clock him.

That was what popped into my head this morning. They introduced this phobia (and reiterated its existence) so that later they could play on the anxiety it would bring to the scene.

Now if only they would bring up the whole McG PTSD thing so I could know what was the general train of thought on that brain storm.

Okay, so I can't completely blame this on H50. I've been researching and studying up on writing novels. Like morning, noon and night researching, note taking, the whole nine yards. And the uses of foreshadowing and character growth were some of the last things I thought about before falling asleep, so yeah. But still. I blame the show.

foreshadowing, steve, character development, danny, h50
