Ahh, these Friday evening shifts are so slow. I guess I shouldn't complain (colleagues have already warned me it's going to get seriously busy here in Autumn when the schools start), but it drives me a bit crazy when there's nothing to do! You can only arrange the collection so many times before it's completely useless... *twiddles thumbs*
What else is new. Well, Midsummer went pretty nicely. It was a 7-hour-drive to the cabin and another 7 back, but it was completely worth it especially since I don't have a driver's license so Boyfriend had to do the driving. The cabin was an old house with rickety floorboards and no running water, surrounded by a jungle of overgrown grass and tall trees. In perfect Midsummer tradition, it didn't start raining until we were about 10km from our destination, and boy did it rain. Even in the clearer moments, there was a light drizzle in the air, and we didn't see the sun again until Sunday morning. But despite the weather, the weekend was highly enjoyable. But then again, what else do you need for a great Midsummer than lots of good food and nice people for company. ♥
I think I fell slightly in love with that house, actually. My parents don't own a cabin, and while I've spent plenty of time at Boyfriend's parents' cabin at Rantsila, I've never thought about owning such a place myself. But now, it might actually be my new dream, something to achieve in this life: A place where time feels slower, where nature is all around, a piece of land that's mine and a house with history behind it.
