Quick Plug: el Día del Libro (International Book Day)

Apr 20, 2007 20:29

I invite everyone to come to Instituto Cervantes on April 21, 2007-that's tomorrow-to join us for a 'round the clock celebration of el Día del Libro, a whole day tribute to the written word!

This is what we On-the-Job Trainees (Me, Romir thedogmode and UP Manila girls The-Ann and Jen) have been preparing for ever since we started working for Instituto. This is the day for us. Do drop by, look around and enjoy the activities! (Saying hi to us wouldn't hurt, too.)

Here's the so-called press release I helped edit for our boss José:

Books in the morning, movies in the afternoon, fiesta in the evening!

Join us as we celebrate World Book Day at Instituto Cervantes! From 9:00 am to 11:00 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2006, Instituto Cervantes will be having an Open House, ‘round the clock fiesta to commemorate el Día del Libro.

What’s waiting for you at Instituto Cervantes?

Book Fair

Saturday’s main attraction is the book fair. We will be offering more than 4,000 brand new books at discounted prices! The fair will also include books by popular Filipino publishing firms and leading bookstores at 20% off! As per Spanish tradition, every book buyer will receive a rose (while supplies last). In addition, the first 200 hundred buyers will receive a FREE copy of the novel Don Quijote de la Mancha. More surprise gifts will await visitors throughout the day!

Books by Filipino publishing firms like Anvil and leading bookstores will also be sold and Filipino authors such as Sionil Jose, Greg Brillantes, Marj Evasco and Jessica Zafra will be present for book signing.
