Emmy was back! The girl was like a younger sister to him, and so when Nate had owled him happily saying that Emmy was back and safe, with her family, he had quickly told his boss he was leaving- and this time, he didn't have to lie. His boss knew where he was going, and let him go- Emmy's kidnapping had been in the news, after all. He had grabbed a bottle of butterbeer for her (he was tempted to get firewhiskey, but he suspected neither Nate nor Emmy's family would appreciate it much), and Flooed to the nearest shop near Emmy's house.

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, I had a Golden Snidget night-light for the first, well, twenty years of my life," he said it in a tone that made it impossible to tell whether he was joking or not. And was he? YOU SHALL NEVER KNOW because, well, that's classified information ( ... )

Emmy blushed, but giggled at Don's "confession" about the nightlight. That did make her feel a bit better, though she couldn't help but be embarrassed. This was Don, after all. He wasn't just anyone. She'd always had a bit of a crush on him, though she never wanted to admit it. She'd known him for ages and he was best mates with her brother. Still, he was handsome and mad for musicals and absolutely divine. She couldn't quite help herself. But this was the sort of hopeless crush that she was accustomed to dealing with, unlike the one she'd developed on her best mate ( ... )
