Astrid had invited Isaac over for dinner at her oh-so-humble flat. Well, it wasn't so humble anymore, she'd gone shopping earlier that week, and now, really it looked like home. Wide, open ( Read more... )

As much as he wanted to cancel with Astrid this evening after what had happened earlier that morning with Penny, he knew he couldn't. Isaac was sure that she would have gone through so much trouble to make dinner and clean up her place just for him. He wouldn't want her to have to go through all of that for nothing with a proper amount of time to say "no" which he didn't have. He would at least be in the company of a friend. That would make him feel better for sure, plus he wouldn't mind a meal that he didn't have to cook himself for once.

Isaac took a moment to try and turn himself back into a semi-cheerful guy just for this evening, before knocking on her door. He did feel somewhat excited to do this. He couldn't let the morning with Penny ruin that. Astrid surely wouldn't deserve his moodiness and he had always been good at hiding the way he was feeling so he would just do it one more time.

Astrid straightened out her blouse when she heard the knock on the door. "Just a moment!" Being in America for such a short time had turned her into such a vain creature! She checked her hair in the mirror, then her teeth. Perfect hygene, she really didn't have to. But it was Isaac. The one that gave her butterflies in her stomach.

"Hello, Isaac," Astrid said warmly after she opened the door. "I'm really glad you could make it." She opened the door further, gesturing him in.

A smile fell across Isaac's lips, and it was even genuine, though it wasn't very big or even showy of his teeth but a smile nonetheless. "Hey Astrid," he noted that his tone was a bit more cheery than the one he showed to Penny when she greeted him at the door that morning, "and so am I."

Isaac stepped in slowly to admire the place from the doorway as he passed her. "Wow," he said admiringly as he looked around the place. "This is amazing. I think this is how I'm gunna decorate my flat when I find one, minus the curtains and the large supply of candles you have here," he stated jokingly even though he was serious. He brushed a lock of hair back up to the top of his head then waltzed around the room, before turning back to Astrid and declaring, "I like it."

Astrid waited at the door with her breath caught in her chest. This was the first time anyone had been over to see her flat, and impressions are everything! As Isaac made his joke, she managed to laugh, without choking. "The curtains are for privacy, silly," she explained, as if it was the most natural thing to have to explain. "Although curtains and candles aren't always advised." In the muggle world, at least. Here, Astrid could have her candles on TOP of the curtains if she wanted!

"I'm so glad you do," she expressed, releasing the door knob. "I hope you're hungry... I didn't use magic to cook..." which could be interpreted two ways. "However, if it is as terrible as the FIRST time I cooked, then well, I could always just," she twirled her finger in the air.

He laughed. "I bet dinner will be fine, I'm sure."

Once he finished exploring the apartment, Isaac turned to her with a small smile. "So," he said, "did you want to have dinner now or were we going to talk first?" He wasn't sure what she had planned as she was the one who had invited him over this time. It was all good to him, whether they ate dinner now or later. Talking was always nice especially with someone that you haven't spoken with in a long time. He was hungry though.

Astrid smiled, and relaxed. It was so different now, everything was changed. It was like after you graduated high school and went back there years later, it was still the same place, but everything felt different, yet so familiar. That was how she felt. But comfortable! She pried herself away from the door and gestured toward the couch. "Oh, whatever you want!" Then, a slight laugh. It didn't matter to Astrid whether he wanted to eat, or explore again or sit or talk or anything!

"I've really missed you," she blurted out, then clapped a hand over her mouth. She let it slide slowly down, and her hands clasped at her waist. Then, she sat down on the couch. "I'm sure that I can't say it enough, how sorry I am."
