Etienne was still on a high from what had happened last night, or more appropriately that morning. He was still sore, yes, but he wasn't about to take a potion so that the pain would go away. If anything that was a sign that he had indeed gone through the process and he should be able to bear that pain.
But that wasn't what he was thinking about at this hour of the morning. No he was thinking about his days plans distractedly, and slowly working his way through the chess board in front of him.
Occasionally he would move his pieces backwards to retrace his steps with his wand lazily, trying to find different ways in order to maintain the greater amount of pieces.
