Week Name / Date / Time: 'Trick or Treat' / Thursday, November 3rd / 12 p.m. Location: Fortescue's, Outdoor dining area Open to: Jason Currently Involving: Evey
Drooling over his potions? If Jason'd heard that particular phrasing, he'd likely have reached out to thwap Evey. As it was, he'd stopped his drooling at five past, and realizing the time, he'd hurried out of the shop to meet Evey, leaving it in the capable hands of Natalie. He didn't do anything except brew nowadays anyway, so it wasn't like it mattered that he wasn't there for an hour or so.
Besides. It was lunch. Important meal of the day.
He went through the same process that she had, grabbing a sandwich from the vendor and catching sight of her reading the paper. As he slipped into the seat beside her, he unwrapped his sandwich, saying, "...something caught your eye in there? That's got to be good."
Evey looked up with a small smile for only a moment, before shaking the paper in her hand lightly. "Yes, well, you know that I only ever look at the paper for the Jumble," she teased, before her brow furrowed again almost involuntarily. Gah, that was annoying.
"There's been two deaths at Hogwarts," she replied, nodding down at the headline as she placed the paper down on the table. "And look, apparently a professor did it."
While Evey didn't usually show much in the way of shock or emotion, she was obviously a bit shaken. Not terribly so, since she wasn't really attached to the school anymore. She knew that Nate's sister still went there, which was a bit worrisome, but otherwise? She paid little mind to it.
Furrowed brow and all? Merlin, it must have been something serious for it to have caught Evey so strongly. Taking a bite of the sandwich, he craned his neck to see what all was on the headline, and promptly stopped chewing.
Two deaths?
Caused by a Professor?! When he'd been going to the school, it wasn't that unsafe, that was for sure!
"God, Dumbledore's losing his touch in choosing character, isn't he?" He spoke through his sandwich before swallowing his bite, only half-chewed. And choking on it. Cough cough hack cough!
Evey frowned, then reached over and thumped him on the back. Sometimes their routine just stepped in without prompting, and this was one of those times. He fell, she offered a hand. She spun until she was dizzy, he held her up. He choked on his sandwich, she smacked his back.
It was just how they operated!
"Well, they've been saying that about Dumbledore for a long time," she replied, shaking her head. "He's always been talked about, criticized for his judgement."
She frowned, then leaned back as she nibbled on her own sandwich. She was slightly worried about the future of the school after this.

But this was quite alarming.
