It was soooo cold out.
And so cold in, for some reason.

Illiad, for his part, couldn't wait until winter holidays came. Despite the fact that his family was growing colder and colder to him by the month, at least the hearth in his kitchen (where he could sit, as his mother made Christmas Baclava) would be warmer than the dungeons here. He simply couldn't get rid of the nagging chilliness in his veins and on his skin, giving him a constant state of gooseflesh.

He lingered, as he always did, at the foot of the stairwell, for Brinley to return. The other boy always seemed to take his time, for some reason, in fetching Illiad before returning to the dungeon for the evening. Of course, Illiad thought to himself in a very scolding nature, Brinley had a good number more things to do than escourt his younger friend downstairs, and really, it was he, Illiad, who should be thankful at Brinley's willingness to do it.

Still. Every now and again, he wondered if he ought to just take the risk and start out on his own.

It wasn't that he was scared of the dungeons! Oh no (well, at least that's what he told himself). He simply didn't like being down there alone. It never sat well with his blood.
