He couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, bugger off," his tone was playful and he wouldn't have let her bugger off she wanted to. "You would've been wondering if I hadn't." He was beaming - even though they were older and things were more complicated, they still had fun around one another. Well, at least he was having fun.

If she had been keeping tabs on him, she wouldn't have thought much of him looking her over. In fact, she might have been a little put off that that was how he treated most pretty girls at Hogwarts. Audrey was pretty in all, but she was one of his mates! Not like the other girls who he tried to make passes at, even if was flirting with her. After all, he was one of hogwarts resident flirt machines. Gosh, what was in the water that the Gryffindors were drinking?

"Ah! I knew it. You were holding out for me!" Grady gave one of his fake-dreamy sighs as his grin stretched from ear to ear. "You haven't any idea how glad I am to hear that..." She most likely hadn't been waiting for the chance to spend time with him, but she wasn't trying her best to escape, now was she? "They are very important. I uh...quit quidditch so I could study more." This reason became smaller and smaller every time he said it, mostly because he hadn't studied since the year before.

In his mind, when he wasn't trying his best to listen to her, he was muttering 'Accio Wand'. He wasn't exactly sure if it was coming or not, but he hoped that it was. Just in case the spell did work even though it was nonverbal and quite obviously wandless, he began to try to usher Audrey outside the great hall. "Come, let's go out here." He moved around a bit, placing a hand on her back, trying to guide her out.

"Why, of course I was holding out for you! You being my best mate and all," She teased, winking at him. They both knew they weren't best mates, but... if Audrey thought about it long and hard, he was probably pretty close.

Even if she did keep up the act that he was just an annoying Gryffindor who loved to pester and drive her mad, her true opinion of him was far different. Whether it be the lessons and rules that were instilled in her, or something else, Audrey had never been able to let her self go and have fun. Not in the way he did. She always kept her poise, her fine demeanor, and her charm; never allowing any moments where she was laid back and care free.

Except for those rare few times when she was with him. Goodness, those had been amazing times. Audrey would never ever tell him how much she enjoyed breaking the rules, but during her childhood, playing with him had brought her such joy.

But now they were old... considered, even, to be adults. She was far past the days of pranking.

As he guided her out the Great Hall, she looked around, wondering where he was going to take her, "You better not have anything planned. I'm much smarter than I once was. I won't allow you to trick me into any of your silly plans."

"Aye. I knew you couldn't resist my stunningly good looks and amazing charm," Grady laughed, even though he wasn't secure with his looks at all. He was so tall, and his hair was blond, how could anyone ever find that attractive! He sighed, grinned a bit wider. To him, everyone was his best mate. Some where better than others, but in his mind, if he was friendly with you, you were a best mate! Audrey was very nearly tied with Charlie for his best lady pal, he would've concluded had he thought about it.

Indeed, they were adults, but that did not keep him from still acting childish. If the years had changed anything about him it was how he looked and very little else. Of course deaths had impacted how care free he was exactly, but naturally he didn't think of those that often. His days of monkey business hardly over though; he simply hadn't thought of any proper pranks to be pulling lately. He had already used so many that they would appear unoriginal. However there were a few first years who had yet to see his butter-to-lard prank, and that one never got old.

Have anything planned? Who did she think she was talking to? She must've forgotten she was talking to Grady, the man who chased plans from his life. "Audrey," Grady said with his hand against his chest and his head shaking, "I am not nearly as mischief inclined as I once was. We're just going to have a sit."

Having a sit seemed more difficult than it sounded, due to the lack of chairs in the entrance hall. Luckily all that muttering had done some good and in the hand that was behind his back was his wand. Grady knew now that should he ever need it, he could just call for it. He pulled it out, pointed at a bare area against a wall and watched as two lawn chairs popped up. He was never much for proper chairs; he liked the lawn variety the best. "Come darling, have a seat." His memory was not the best, and he couldn't exactly remember which classes he had that Audrey did also. So having a seat, he decided to ask. "What classes have you taken up this year then?"

Audrey shrugged, not wanting to confirm or deny his teasing. She was in far too good a mood to say something harsh, and drop his ego down a peg or two. But at the same time, she always had to keep herself in check. Although she flirted, she tried not to get too out of hand with it.

Besides, she still wasn't sure how Grady acted. She didn't pay enough attention to know he was one of Hogwarts biggest flirts, and she didn't want to get the boys hopes up or anything.

As he told her they were just going to sit, she was rather surprised. Audrey had been almost positive he was going to try and reel her into some evil scheme he had plotted. But sit? And what, talk? That seemed so unlike him. Although it was true, they hadn't had a decent chat for awhile, and maybe he really wanted to just catch up with her.

How pleasant-- or at least it had been a pleasant thought until Grady conjured lawn chairs!!! Who did he think she was? Some hill billy hick from the States? She was a lady, and ladies did not sit in lawn chairs.

Tsking lightly, she gave him a look, a soft smile gracing her face as laughter appeared in her eyes. "Grady, you are an awful influence," And rather than seeming rude, and transforming the lawn chair into something more suitable, she took her seat in the one he offered.

"This year, I have taking," Audrey brought her hands up to count the classes on her fingers, "Charms, Astronomy, Herbology, Potions, and History of Magic." Wow. That wasn't a lot of classes at all, but she didn't mind. "What about you?"

Watching her reaction to the chairs, he couldn't help but laugh. How silly of him! Of course she didn't want to sit in a lawn chair. Just because he cared for them didn't mean that a young women like herself would want to plop down into a deep seated lawn chair. "Oh, I'm sorry Auddey." Using a nickname that he hadn't since he was considerably younger made his insides bounce. There was just something about old friends.

An awful influence? Hardly! In his presence she had hardly gotten into any real trouble! They hadn't misused any muggle items that Grady had stolen from school, bothered any animals, or even get warnings about underage magic. Then again, if she thought him trying to get her to sit in a lawn chair was awful perhaps he was. And by god, he liked it that way!

"That's good. I never did do well in Astronomy." Actually, he had done horribly; he had barely passed his exams. And even then he had been cheating. It didn't help that the person he was sitting next to wasn't too handy in Astronomy either. "I'm sure you're brilliant in all of them." What classes did he take? The first thought that popped into his head was 'Not enough', because his parents continually sent him letters about his lack of courses. He was an adult now, and if he only wanted to take five, then he would. "Erm..," Grady thumped his finger gently on his chin as he recited each one, "potions, transfiguration...charms, defense, and muggle studies!" Oh if he didn't adore muggle studies. "Last week we learned about old film styles and...," he trailed off, realizing that she was probably not interested. And quickly, before she had a chance to say anything, he added, "How are the first years, then?"

"Yes well, I suppose I can forgive you... for now," She let out an exasperated sigh, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips to let him know she was only teasing.

Shifting uncomfortably in her seat, she realized it would take some getting used to. She certainly was not used to sitting in such chairs, but again, she didn't want to be rude. It was such a Grady thing to do, though, so it rather amused her.

At his remark about Astronomy, she threw her head back and laughed, "I know. I remember. You always used to want to copy my charts," Which was so true. Since the Gryffindors and Slytherins usually had classes together, he'd always try peaking over her shoulder in hopes to see the answers.

She simply nodded at his next statement. Of course she was brilliant in all of them! She wouldn't take the classes she wasn't brilliant in!

Audrey lip curled into a look off disgust at his mention of muggle. Bleh. He should have known better than to bring that up with her, but before she could say anything, he had jumped onto the next question.

"The first years?" She wasn't quite sure what he meant.

If he was that sort of lad (a poof, possibly), Grady would grinned and blushed, but instead he just smiled, and gave her a small pat on the knee. He didn't know if she would appreciate it, but even if she didn't, he didn't care. He was Grady, and that fact alone usually got him out of the dog house with her.

Noticing her wiggling, he shook his head. "Honestly Auddey." Grady had to resist the urge to tell her to get up so he could transfigure it for her. Not only would that not be like him, but how ever would she get used to it if she didn't sit in one once and a while. How would they have be able to hang around his house this summer if she couldn't sit in a lawn chair?

He had caught her. Grady laughed along with her, thinking over the situation. "Well, Andra was a horrible as myself, and that was no good. I had my own rubbish, I didn't need to copy hers." Andra was his friend, and he hoped she wasn't lurking around anywhere. She had done poorly too, but at least she had enough determination to stick it out until fifth year. "Plus, yours were always so perfect." Grady sighed hopelessly. "Just like the rest of you and your life." Nothing about his life was perfect, and that was how he liked it.

He didn't notice her distaste as he talked about muggle studies, but when she asked what he meant about the first years, he answered happily. "You know. The Slytherin first years? Are they annoying? Cute? Fun? What? Ours are all right I guess. None of them talk to me. I think cause I'm big and a seventh year."

No, Audrey didn't exactly appreciate the pat to the leg. She wasn't overly affectionate with her friends. Other than the blokes she fooled around with(and believe me, there weren't a lot of them), she didn't often touch her friends, and vice versa.

She didn't show any sign of this, though, as she didn't flinch or wrinkle her nose. Just a smile.

Goodness, how she wished he would transfigure the chair into something more soft and cushiony. Her nice little bum simply was not made for this kind of chair! Audrey would have transfigured it herself... but that subject hadn't ever been her favorite, and she rarely, if ever, practiced. So her trying to transfigure at that moment? Probably wouldn't be the best idea. She'd likely turn the chair into some sort of rodent, knowing how bad she was.

As he said her life was perfect, she smiled, biting her lip at the side. Yes, that was often the reaction that she got from most people. Audrey did lead a rather perfect life, didn't she? Of course it wasn't always so pleasant, but she liked having that reputation. "Ah, well what can I say? I am quite the perfectionist."

"You probably scare them," She laughed, enjoying the fact that she could tease him with no strings attached, "Hell, Grady, you still scare me!" Audrey stuck her tongue out which... yeah, she didn't do that to anyone other than Grady. But of course, he always had this way of bringing out her inner child. Or some such nonsense.

"As for the Slytherin first years..." Audrey shrugged, "I don't exactly pay attention to them. I suppose they're alright. None have bothered me or annoyed me yet, so I suppose they are fine."

Everyone's life had problems; the perfection that Grady spoke of was what she projected. One could never say what another person was feeling, nor could he know of any mishaps that happened in her life, but if one thing was true, she was a perfectionist. "Things don't need to be perfect all of the time Sweetheart. You're just lucky." Grady didn't have very much luck, and when he used it up, or someone stole it, it took him a very long time to get it back. He reckoned he'd probably break a leg on the way up to the tower, what with having used all his luck in meeting Audrey.

Grady's smile turned into a lopsided smirk, and he rubbed the back of his neck. Maybe he did scare them. When he had been a first year, only the height of the 7th years frightened him. Thinking about the whole situation, Grady nodded. He'd slouch next time he spotted any first years. "I still scare you?" Hopefully she meant that in a good way, if there was one. His hopes were confirmed when she stuck her tongue out at him. A gesture with his maturely responded to by sticking out his tongue and putting his thumb to his nose and wiggling his fingers.

"Just be nice, yeah? You know how hard it is being a first year." He certainly remembered. A certain almost beheaded ghost was lurking around and Grady managed to walk through him. Still, he was not especially impressed with ghosts. He hoped that when he died he would become a poltergeist.

Grady's thoughts bounced around his head, and he waited (looking at Audrey) for one to smack him in the mouth. When one finally did, he didn't hesitate to spit it out. "I don't think I liked the ham tonight. Do you care for ham? I don't know if I ever asked you."

((I think it's official. This is the lamest post ever.))

((ahaha no worries, I think this one might just be lame as well! :P))

Audrey didn't pay much attention to other people, so unfortunately for Grady, she had no knowledge of his lack of luck. She wasn't even sure whether or not she would consider running into her lucky for him. He could probably find so many more entertaining people, although she was nice to look at, she knew, so she supposed he was the lucky one after all.

"Of course you still scare me," She smiled warmly, wondering when this damn happy mood she was in was going to fade. It was starting to annoy her, to be honest, "I never know what you have up your sleeve, and I never know if you're going to try to drag me into one of your elaborate schemes. You always kidnap me away from the more important things! So yes, of course I am still scared of you!"

Her laughter filled the hall, but she covered her mouth with her palm, as not to make too much noise and draw attention to them.

As Grady told her to be nice, she rolled her eyes slightly, "When am I not nice? I will be perfectly sweet to the little brats, as long as they don't ruin any of my quiet time." Audrey gave a curt nod before they fell into silence.

Oh, and look, he was staring at her. How wonderful, as if she didn't get that all the time! It rather made her uncomfortable, because she wasn't used to Grady looking at her like that, but she tried not to dwell on it too much.

"The ham?" Her eyebrow cocked, "I suppose it was fine, I only had a small slice of it myself. I prefer chicken." What an odd boy he was, bringing up ham of all things!

Really, as contradictory as it was to his reputation, he didn't care much about what Audrey looked like. It was her company, not her body, that he sought. And here she was, in his company. If that wasn't luck, Grady didn't know what was.

"Elaborate! You should know me well enough that I make up everything as I go along!" Grady exclaimed, not quite as loudly as an exclamation mark would lead you to believe. More important things? The statement roused him so thoroughly that he had to mention it. "More important than having fun (I know you don't get to have a lot of that) with me? Such as?" Grady said suspiciously as he leaned slightly closer to her as if waiting for an answer. "Brushing your hair with 200 strokes on each side?" he encouraged, slightly sarcastic.

"When you call them brats, I'd reckon." He gave a nodd that matched hers, but squirmed around as he stifled a laugh. She was ever so amusing, wasn't she. It was a shame that her mates and his mates couldn't be one group of mates. Then again, he supposed that one of her mates was his biggest rival. He shrugged slightly at his thought and smiled.

He could almost she the discomfort in her face, and figured he looked like some loony bird, staring at her. But hadn't really been looking at, she just happened to be right where he was gazing. "Mmm. Chicken? I do love chicken." Grady sat up, patting his stomach as if it were a big belly, not solid abdomen muscles. "I had a bit of the ham, the chicken, some other meat I can't exactly identify, and a bit of potatoes. Not big on the vegetables, yeah." It appeared as if he was reminding himself that he did not like greens, because he blinked a few times at her before saying curiously, "You haven't turned out to be one of those girls who doesn't eat much of anything, have you?" He didn't care much for that sort, because frankly, he like to see girls eating and being healthy.

Audrey sighed, shaking her head at his antics. He was such a strange boy, really. She had no idea why she put up with him for all these years. He truly was a bad influence!!

She cocked her eyebrow at the mention of brushing her hair for 200 strokes. No, she hadn't ever been that obsessed with her hair. Only 150 strokes.

"Well, you always bothered me when I was trying to practice my violin, remember?" Of course she hadn't picked up a violin in years, but back when they were little, her parents used to make her practice every day... and Grady, being the complete git that he was, would come along and annoy her to no end!! Begging her to come play with him.

Looking up at a clock that was near by, she realized it was getting late... and that she was tired! Time to turn in -- a bath was definitely in order.

Feigning a yawn, she stood up from her seat, "As lovely as this has been, Grady, I should be off! Thank you for the uh," Audrey gestered to the lawn chair, not knowing what else to call it, "The chair. Maybe we can catch up more later, yeah?" She hesitated, wondering whether or not she should hug him? Ah hell, who cares!

Audrey, doing something rather uncharacteristic(which she totally blamed on her good mood!), leaned over and wrapped her arms around him in a small hug. "Have a wonderful night!" She flashed him one last smile before turning around and strolling off in the direction of the Slytherin common room.

He did remember. It always seemed foolish that she would be playing some bloody instrument when he was available to have fun with. He still didn't see the fun in stroking strings with a bow. Getting in trouble and creating mischief was so much funner.

He stood, just as she did, smiling. It was nice to have talked to her. "We will. I promise." If you could count on one thing, it was Grady keeping his promises. He still could not properly put his finger on the feeling that she gave him, but he decided that maybe it was acceptance. Even with her stiff and proper ways, she still enjoyed her company, and he hers.

When she hugged him, he realized it was unconditional love from a (practically) relative. He gave her a squeeze back, having already attacked her once. "You have a good night as well. Sleep tight!" Grady called after as she made her way to the dungeons. He needed a chocolate frog or two, so he headed up to the towers, smiling happily. It had been a very good day.
