Chamberlayne was actually quite surprised that he'd had yet to run into Genevieve O'Dwyer. Oh, he knew that she'd been assigned there; it hadn't been a secret. But the fact that he'd been here since Monday and had yet to have the fortune, or misfortune, to run into her?

Well, that was just odd.

It was only a matter of time, however. There was no way that they could avoid each other forever, trying or not, even considering how big the castle was. No, eventually he would run into her.

Turning the corner of the corridor that he'd been patrolling until about five minutes prior, he had to mentally hit his head against the wall. Think of the devil and there she was. He had to remember not to do that next time.

A smirk played on his lips as he quirked a brow, looking quite cocky as he easily strolled up to her. "Genevieve. What a pleasant surprise!"

"Save the canned reactions and false flattery for visits to your whores, Chamberlayne," she immediately shot in return. Merlin, her eyes really did seem to narrow beyond that which might seem possible the second he rounded that corner. "What the bloody hell are you doing here?"

Oh, could that man ever mess things up for her here. While she probably could benefit by his presence, she wasn't willing to see that side of things just yet. Yes, he could possibly help her with her own plans. But, that would require her actually putting up with him. And that? Not going to easily happen. He was too much of an annoying little prat for her tastes.

"Other than the obvious, which I know to be to satisfy those cravings of yours that you can neither handle nor be good at, of course." She batted a hand, absolutely unamused by his appearance, then folded her arms over her chest. Cold green eyes settled on him, and it really looked like she was ready to claw his own ones clear out of him.

"Whaaat?"

Chamberlayne's voice sounded mildly shocked, his smirk not diminished in the least as he looked at her quizzically. "You weren't aware of my arrival? Mmm, that's not a good sign, is it, Genevieve?"

She didn't warrant him getting annoyed by the mention of whores. So he enjoyed a bit of pleasure; he knew for a fact that she wasn't a saint when it came to that department. "Of course..."

Pausing to cross his arms loosely over his chest, he eyed her. "Why would Professors be aware of Aurors whereabouts?" He stressed their two positions, still smirking. She didn't look thrilled to see him; oh, rather, she looked about ready to bite his head off or claw his eyes out.

Quite amusing, really.

Genie seemed to finally get her senses back in place. They were in public, and his annoying prat of a self was far from important enough to make her be losing her cool when someone could walk by and see what she was really like. Besides, as he had pointed out.. he was an Auror, which in her opinion was a disgusting step below an educator. He prattled about with goody-two-shoes all day long, playing friendly and kissing the bottoms of the ministry. Hardly anything to brag about, in her opinion. So he most definitely was not someone for her to waste her hard-earned reputation on.

So, with a soft, almost charming smile on her lips, she reached out to smooth the lapel of his robes, stepping closer to him in an almost affectionate manner. But then, a hand curved, grasping the material sharply, and she immediately tugged him into the closest room to where they had been standing. Once they were in, the door slammed shut, and she made quick work of warding it for privacy.
