Sebastian was not hiding nor was his eye anywhere near to twitching. He had, in fact, been walking through the very populated hallways that led from Ancient Runes to the Common Room. He stumbled through the Common Room door, weighted down by not only his school textbooks, but the books he had purchased at Hogsmeade. He had yet to open them, and felt somewhat silly about it.

He felt slightly less silly as he caught sight of Rylie staring at her own books. Ha.

"Er... I hear that they work better when you've opened them up." He said wisely, making a gesture at the plain covered books and sitting down across from her.

Finally. She could tell from the amount of books he was carrying that he'd been at class. No matter, he was here with her now.

"Do you now? Imagine that," Rylie said quietly and stared at him for a moment, trying to read his features.

Did this mean he had read the books he had gotten, or not? It seemed crazy that the books would be cursed, but they did come from an odd shop. She hadn't even looked very closely at what was inside before she bought them. There were a few about breaking curses, or so she could assume from the titles ( ... )

"Er. Yes, a breakthrough I'm sure," he replied, giving Rylie a confused look. He placed his bag on the table, accidentally letting his books fall out in the process. Glancing up, he quickly stuffed them back in his bag.

The several books he'd purchased had very plain covers and very ambigious titles. They looked like either very dry philosophies, or very dull fictions. Which was probably why he hadn't gotten to them yet. Or why the prospect of reading them aloud didn't sound all too enticing.

"Aloud?" he repeated, gaping at her, then realizing gaping wasn't a very attractive or intelligent thing to do. So he ceased. He went on with a hesitant grin, "Oh I see, a read along around the fire the Claw Common Room? You know, this is just backing what all the other houses think we do when we're off on our own."

Making a face, he reached out to get ahold of the book she had and read the title.

"I don't care what the other houses think, I want to read with you," Rylie said, but held the book up over her head as he tried to grab it.

She made sure her hand was still covering the title and grinned, shaking her head from side to side. She knew that he wouldn't like this at all, but she couldn't resist. Something about Rylie's personality made her fascinated by Sebby's, and so she was always willing to see the many sides of him, even those considered awkward. He wasn't the only one, either. She had this problem with everyone. Sebby was just one of her favourite people, though she'd never tell him so, due to mentioned awkwardness ( ... )

Thinking he was about to endure a poorly written fiction or philosophy, Sebastian sunk back into his chair bracing himself for boredom. Rylie was amusing and intelligent but where did she get these ideas? It also ocurred to him that he wasn't very resistent in dealing with them, but he shook that off and instead blamed it on her stubbornness.

But then... did she actually invest MONEY in this? His face went over slightly embarassed before turning to her and giving her an extremely dry look.

"Is this a dating guide? Are you reading me a dating guide?" He paused, to let it sink in. "And you want me... to read it back to you?"

He paused again, looking vaguely shocked at the audacity. Mostly, he was confused, and felt he should write it off as a Rylie-ism. Which prompted him to say rather sneakily "Are we having trouble then?" before immediantly thinking the better of it and shooting her an entirely innocent face in compensation.

((...you stopped the sideglances?!))

Rylie stared at Sebby, completely dumbfounded. If he hadn't figured out by now that it was, indeed, a dating guide, then he wasn't as clever as she thought he was. Naturally, she assumed he was asking simply because he was in shock, as she had expected anyway.

She was going to pat his hand when he asked her 'are we having trouble then?' out of the blue. Oh, he was a witty one.

"Don't give me that look! It can't save you now, Seb love. I heard you, and I'm hurt," she told him, though a small smile was still on her face.

She didn't normally talk to Sebby about things of that nature, and she wasn't sure if anyone did. It made her wonder if he was having trouble, but she held onto that question for later.

"Are you going to read to me, or not?"

Sebastian continued to give Rylie 'that look' until she asked him to read. Again. So he turned to give 'that look' to the book instead. It lay there, still folded over both their legs, being very much not affected by his look. He skeptically picked it up with his thumb and forefinger and turned back to Rylie.

"You know it's our heads if someone comes back from class and sees us reading this together. Or mine at least, as you seem to not care." He made his best I-am-putting-up-with-so-much face at her and lay the book back down.

He couldn't believe he was doing this, but he couldn't just stalk away he would never hear the end of it. And so, with eyebrow raised, he began reading on in an exaggerated monotone accompanied by mocking voice ( ... )

'No.... really?' Rylie thought in disbelief. Sebastian was actually giving her the FACE. Well one of his many faces, but this was the face that meant he was actually going to do what she asked! Sebastian Rivera was going to risk humiliation in front of his claw peers (should the enter the room) to read to her.

What a moment they were sharing, honestly.
She held back her laughter as best she could while Sebby began reading in some frightening mixture of a mocking and a monotone voice. How was that even possible? He just got more fascinating each day it seemed.

"This book is the betterment of humanity, obviously. It's best if we continue," Rylie replied and slid the book so it was more in her lap than his.

Before she continued reading, she grinned at him and winked.

"You know you're learning sooooo much," she said and continued with the list, "Number Three: Don't be afraid to show the true witch within! Don't try and impress him with incantations if charmwork isn't your forte. Play to your strengths, and know what makes you magical ( ... )

Oh hur hur. Sebastian attempted to up his 'dry look' a few notches before deciding it couldn't be done. And he was very reluctant to read anymore after this. Because, well, really. If they were going to try to apply the thing...

"You know what, if I need to learn how to, um..." he peered over at the book, "...'hint at my affections without coming on too strongly'. Well! I'll know just what to consult."

Sebastian grinned slightly and edged away from the book, giving it a pointed look.

"But, um. Honestly. We should probably stop." He added seriously, managing to look concerned for humanity's betterment, as well as his own.
