Riane quietly paced along the corridors of the first floor, pausing now and then to glance into classrooms that, on a sunny day, would normally be empty. With weather like it was, though, the students that usually preferred to pass the time out of doors were forced to remain indoors where it was safe and dry. Typically, that meant a great deal more noise, but, as long as the halls were watched and someone periodically checked on the groups forming in the spare rooms, it could be kept as a reasonably trouble free day. It wasn't exactly Riane's job to keep the students out of trouble, but as she was there to keep them out of danger, she wasn't against adding an additional patrol to her own schedule. Precautions were always good.
As she walked, her wand hung loosely in her right hand and tapped lightly against the side of her right leg each time she took a step. The black boots on her feet barely made a sound as she moved across the stone floors, and she'd abandoned her robes for a casual pair of trousers and a thin, but long-sleeved shirt. The air was too humid for wearing robes, and the Muggle-half of her brain chaffed against wearing more clothing than necessary when the weather was as such.
She reached one of the floor-to-ceiling windows and allowed herself a moment to stare out at the sheets of rain. It was quiet, for the moment at least, though she knew that once the next class was released her patrol would need to begin again.
