Finally, classes were over and the real work could begin.

Clover Manalo grabbed her school cloak from its hook and made her way swiftly out of the Ravenclaw Commons, waving a goodbye to her friend Noah. Autumn had officially set in, and the evenings could be a bit chilly as the sun went down. Fastening the robes around her shoulders, she double-checked for her wand in her pocket and was soon out of the castle, keeping one step ahead of the changing staircases.

Extracurriculars weren’t exactly her strong suit, but this Fifth Year was bent on brewing a new potion that had nothing to do with Double Potions and Snape. Clover had a hobby of concocting potions and spells of her own devices, hoping to strike something really important one day. Perhaps in the healing vein. And for her newest idea, the last ingredient had to be harvested at sunset in order to reach maximum potency.

She reached Greenhouse 3 just as the sun touched the tips of the distant mountains. Good, still several minutes left. Clover tugged on her dragon hide gloves as she walked inside, heading straight for the rear counter where the Memento Milkferns lay potted. She kept her brown eyes peeled for the sight of another student in the greenhouse. This was supposed to be a secret project! Clover couldn’t have anyone watching while she harvested the ferns.

So far, so good. After all, who would be stuck in the greenhouses when they could be eating dinner in the Great Hall or socialising in the Common Room? Only Herbology geeks like Clover, she assumed, who were few and far between.
