With Hannah in his lap, Grady curled himself deeper into the squishy chair. The fire was warm, he noticed, as he extended one slippered foot toward it. The warmth was almost uncomfortable, so he pulled it back beneath him. With a yawn, it also dawned on him that it was getting late. After two weeks in the hospital wing, he was willing to bet that none of his teachers would be too impressed with a groggy student. The welts on his body weren't even welts anymore, they were just small red dots hidden by his pajamas. One, however was on his inner forearm, however, would be difficult to hide. It was a large splotch, and still had a bit of a bump. He didn't want anyone finding out about his allergy, so he placed his arm along Hannah, who purred happily in response.
It wasn't long before he noticed that he was rather alone. Of course there were students in the corners, having onversations of their own. But they weren't at all interested in even saying hello to him. Through his experience, some of the younger students found it daunting to talk to much older students like himself. He wasn't going to bite them, or turn them into some sort of monkey; they had no reason to fear him.
However, it wasn't the first years avoiding him that bothered him most. Where were all his friends? Was there a party that everyone had forgotten to tell him about? Or did they purposely not invite him. At that thought, he puffed up his chest slightly and reminded himself that it was his best mates he was talking about. When his cat hissed, he realized he had been petting her furiously. He was Grady, he shouldn't have been worrying about having problems with friends. He had so many, after all. It was just...hardly any of them had come to visit him in the wing.
