((You know the drill... Snape'll be sweeping through as soon as a few of you enter...))

Erik wondered if Emilia remembered what happened last time he had gone to potions. He certainly did, and it was a memory he was trying very hard to get rid of.

He didn't have a smile on his face as he entered the classroom, and he took a seat as far in the back as possible. Maybe she wouldn't turn around, and just maybe Snape wouldn't be extra hard on him for missing class the week before.

"Splendid," he mumbled and set up his cauldron.

Potions was about the only class for which Emilia arrived on time, it being not only her best class but also her favourite. Indeed, the swift walk between Study Hall and the Potions dungeon to ensure she would arrive on time was the most energetic she would be all week. Arriving at the classroom, she paused momentarily outside, smoothing her robes down and composing herself so as to be at her best for the Professor.

Walking into the classroom, Emilia's deportment was faultless. Her head held high and the usual near-regal expression on her face, took a seat towards the front of the classroom and prepared her things for the lesson.

Jackie walked in right behind Emilia. Although Potions was one of the few classes she excelled in, she was careful not to expose herself to Emilia's scrutiny. She still hadn't heard the details between Erik's unfortunate entanglement with the Slytherin, but she knew enough to be wary. And besides, she figured with Snape being Head of Slytherin, any Gryffindor in the class would be an automatic target.

She took a seat in the middle of the classroom, and pulled out her Potions book and cauldron. Hopefully, Snape would be less... Snape-ish today. When would the man ever be in a good mood?

Phillip strolled into the Potions classroom behind Jack. He said a quick hello to the girl, then took the seat beside Erik, nodding to his mate. He glared in Emilia's direction, but didn't say anything to warrant her attention.

Instead he turned to Erik and whispered in way of greeting, "Oi, haven't seen you around much, mate." He pulled out his cauldron and began setting up, idly wishing that someone other than Snape would come waltzing in to teach them.

Keeley hurried in after Phillip. She had the same walk as Emilia, but had not said anything to her on the way. Or looked at her.

She said hi to Phillip and took a seat next to Jack. She turned and looked at Erik and wanted to know what had happened between Emilia and him. She turned to Jack and asked "heard anything more about what happened?" wondering if Jack knew more than she did.

She pulled out her cauldron and hoped for a better lesson today. Not so much hope though, she thought, it is Snape teaching after all.

Erik smirked as Phillip took a seat beside him. Now there was someone he hadn't seen much of this year. Erik couldn't say he was happy about that, as Phillip was great for understanding how Erik's mind worked.

"Haven't seen much of you either? Been off partying with the 7ths?" Erik asked him and shook his head.

He was going to add 'I suspect you know where I've been', but he didn't need to think about Nik right now. Not in Potions class.

He quickly gave a nod to both Keeley and Jack, and glared at Emilia once for good measure. If only he actually had some talent with this bloody subject, that would show her.

Gryffindor, Gryffindor, Gryffindor. Boring, boring, boring. Emilia was watching the door, waiting for either Snape or another Slytherin to appear so that she might have some decent company. Really, she liked Potions too much to waste any of her time arguing with stray lions and it was rather irritating that she had to share her classtime with them at all.

Rather than her usual routine of yawning, window gazing and fingernail inspection, Emilia began idly flicking through her textbook and scanning the pages for anything that might prove interesting.

Jackie gave a quick wave back to Erik and Philip, and then looked around the room to make sure no one was listening, before turning to Keeley. She lowered her voice. "I'm not sure... it either has something to do with a hex... or a love potion... or possibly both."

She narrowed her eyes in Emilia's direction. "I missed the entire potion escapade a couple weeks ago, since I was buried in the library with History homework... and I don't think Erik's too keen on announcing what happened..."

She glanced behind her shoulder at Erik and Phillip. "To top it all, Erik's brother was killed... It's just not his month."

Potions was always a dreadful start to a Monday, Charlie thought crossly, wondering what sick wank had decided to put her there. O'course, that train of thought caused her to wonder why potions existed in general- and if they had to exist...why Snape? That old bat seemed to have it in for her.

Charlie landed in a seat in the midst of the Gryffindors- nearest to Jackie, who, in Charlie's mind, was the Goddess of the Cauldron. "Morning everyone," Charlie yawned and rubbed her eyes tiredly. Naturally she had not even started the potions homework until well after lights out the previous night, and was feeling that today.

Phillip nodded to Keeley as she greeted him on her way into the classroom, then leaned back in his seat. He was almost tempted to throw his feet up on the desk in front of him, but decided that a detention with Snape would cut a little too much into his flying time.

Phillip gave a small laugh at Erik's comment, "'Fraid not. Been spending a lot of time on the pitch. You know me, I can never have too much practise," he smirked.

He'd heard a bit about what had been going on in his mate's life, but had yet to find out the details. However, Potions was the last place for that sort of conversation. He leaned forward again to pull out his textbook and then propped it open on the desk, but didn't bother to read it. "You know, we ought to do something, mate. Get caught up, start some trouble and the lot," he said casually to Erik as he leaned back in his chair again, grinning and waving to Charlie as she entered the room.

Keeley narrowed her eyes at Emilia. "I didn't think that it was like that." She whispered back. "I feel bad for Charlie, he is going through a rough time, that whole thing must not have been good for him."

She glaced over when Charlie entered the classroom. "Good morning to you too, up late again?" She asked Charlie after she sat down.

"You know I'm sitting right here. Could we stop discussing me now?" Erik asked the girls and shook his head.

It wasn't that he didn't like his housemates, or that he was purposely trying to be rude, but he could hear them whispering, and it wasn't going much to calm him down. Bloody potions.

He went to say something to Phillip, but decided to elaborate to the others instead.

"I'm not trying to be a prat, it's just that I really don't need reminding every bloody hour that my brother is dead, can you understand that?"

The whispering behind Emilia's back hadn't gone unnoticed, but it was only Erik's comment which drew her attention fully away from her textbook. Twisting slightly in her seat, she turned her head towards Erik and smirked. Not such a loudmouth now, are we Cohen? she thought to herself.

As she turned back to her textbook, she threw a few disdainful glances at the other members of the class. After all, she'd no doubt they'd been doing the same behind her back. Still, she'd more important things to worry about than ridiculous Gryffindors. Genie's meeting, for example, and the ever increasing talk of Lucius Malfoy's visit. Oh yes, and a certain Keary McFinn as well. Gryffindors forgotten, Emilia had rather a contented smile on her face as she returned to skimming her textbook.

"Morning!" Jackie grinned as Charlie sat next to her. "I was afraid I was going to have set your bed on fire just to get you up... again."

With Erik's retort, Jackie clapped her hand over her mouth, embarrassed that Erik had heard her; she thought she had been quiet. She grimaced. Sorry! she said silently, throwing an apologetic look over her shoulder at him.

She flipped her textbook open to what should be today's lesson and scanned its ingredients, debating whether or not she should start gathering them. Knowing Snape, he'd probably choose a completely different lesson just because he was Snape; so she decided against it.
