Week Name/Date/Time: 'Meeting of the Minds' / Thursday, September 29th, 2005 / 9:50am Location: Quidditch Pitch Open To: Bran Currently Involving: Sebastian, Bran
Bran ran across the Quidditch Pitch toward the visitors' stands, pausing halfway across the open field to glance up. Sebastian was there already, but that really wasn’t a big surprise. The Ravenclaw student was known for being punctual if nothing else, but there had been a chance that he wouldn’t show at all. The Gryffindor nodded his head a bit to acknowledge that he’d spotted the fellow sixth year and then headed the rest of the way over to the stands.
It didn’t take but a few moments for Bran to make it to the top of the stairs, having taken the steps two at a time, but he was winded when he reached Sebastian. With a thump, he flopped onto one of the benches and took several deep breaths. When he finally spoke, his voice was still a ragged. “Morning, Sebastian. I know my note was probably, erm, unexpected. Thank you for agreeing to meet.”
"Morning. And, ah, no problem." Sebastian stared blankly at the other boy, waiting for him to catch his breath. He wasn't the most patient of people, especially not when something so interesting presented itself. And Bran of all people. He seemed to remember discussing mostly homework with the other boy... perhaps on occassion the weather. And he had a small dithering recollection that he had once told the Gryff he preferred English Coastal Chedder, thanks. Not much to base a private meeting in the quidditch stands on.
"So..." he began as Bran seemed to have enough breath to adequatly speak, "Windy isn't it?" Sebastian paused, blinked, and berated himself for being awkward. He quickly followed his cunning observation with, "What exactly is this, um... project about?"
“Right,” Bran could tell the other sixth year wanted to get to the point, but he wasn’t sure how to do that quite yet. They didn’t know each other very well, other than the passing hello or question pertaining to classes, but he did know that Sebastian seemed to love research. Oh, good, research. That should do the trick.
Bran reached into the inner pocket of his robes and pulled out a bit of parchment, a Muggle-style pen, and his wand. The wand he put on the bench beside him, he’d need that soon, but the parchment he spread out on his lap and clicked the ballpoint pen so it was ready to write. “I’m doing a bit of research on bloodlines, and, err, Soren thought you might be willing to help.” He lifted a hand and scratched at his chin while studying Sebastian. “It’s extra credit for,” he let his gaze shift back toward the school while searching for a way to end the statement, “erm, Defense?”
He didn’t wait long enough for a reply, just plowed on ahead with his first ‘research question’. “How do you feel about bloodline purity and all
Sebastian nearly laughed when he realized Bran had dragged him halfway across the school for research questions. He'd never known the boy to be so dedicated. Ha! Though he was slightly put out, as the letter had seemed somewhat more mysterious. Gah, his imagination was obviously getting the better of him. What could Bran possibly have to do with conflicts in the war and in the school. If he wanted to meet him in the middle of the bleeding Forbidden Forest for research questions, fine by him. He'd just suggest a more reasonable location.
But as Bran asked the first question... well. Bloodlines for Defense? A wave of confusion passed over him but he quickly shook it off. Preliminary questions, he supposed.
"Um. Do you mean... I mean, my father's a pureblood. Most of my family is, but my mum's a muggle. So, well, I'm not one way or the other? I'm a halfblood and I've seen muggles much younger than me do spells I couldn't even attempt at that age." He shrugged, and peered at Bran, "Er, is that what you wanted?"
