Brandon turned the corner of yet another empty hallway, wand clutched tightly. He knew 3 o'clock was a bit early to be patrolling, but hey, he had a free period and was a Prefect, so he figured it couldn't hurt. Besides, he needed something to take his mind off of Esme, and this seemed as good of a distraction as any.
Except this hallway wasn't empty.
He spotted a figure further down the corridor, but he couldn't see who it was. Cautiously, wand still gripped tightly, he mentally reminded himself of the disarming spell incantation, just in case.
"Hello?" he called as he advanced on the figure, half curious and half a little scared. "Who are you?" Honestly, he was being ridiculous. It was 3 o'clock on a Tuesday, the sun was...well, it was cloudy out, but still, it was there, and whoever heard of something scary happening in a brightly lit corridor on a Tuesday?
