Brandon had been trying to find Esme all morning in hopes that they could spend time together, but he seemed to keep missing her somehow. He finally thought of going down to the pitch, and sure enough, he found her lying on her back, apparently watching the clouds.
As he got closer, however, he saw that her eyes were closed, and he was afraid she might be asleep. He didn't think it was a good idea to leave her alone there, though--even without present climates, someone could steal her broom or something--so he lowered himself down next to her and stretched himself out comfortably. This wasn't half bad, really. It was a nice warm day and the clouds were making interesting shapes.
Esme awoke suddenly from her nap when she rolled over a bit and met with resistance from a warm body. Coming to with a start, she relaxed when she saw that said body was Brandon and gave him a sleepy, heavy-lidded smile. "Oh, hello," she said through a yawn. "I wasn't asleep out here was I?" She didn't usually fall asleep so fast and at such an unusual time, but she just shrugged to herself, figuring that the first week of school was quite tiring.
Propping herself up on her elbows so she was looking down at him, she smiled as she realised how nice it was to be out in the sun, peaceful and with him. Leaning down, she kissed im gently. Mmm, that was also a very good thing.
"Just a little," Brandon said. "If by 'little,' you mean 'totally,' and I do." He grinned at first, then frowned when he noticed that Esme didn't look like she normally did. He couldn't figure out exactly what it was, but there was definitely something...not quite right about the way she looked. Of course, he figured saying, "Esme, you look awful," was about number one on the list of things not to say to your girlfriend unless you want to be chucked, and so he didn't say anything.
"I've been looking for you all morning. Thought we could hang out a bit. Harder to do now that we're back in school, eh?" Which was only half-true, really, because they did get to see each other more than they had over the summer, but the problem was that when they did, they were usually surrounded by countless other students. It was a give-and-take situation, really

Esme laughed weakly at him, but to be honest she didn't really feel much like jokes. She was just too... tired! This final year at school thing must be taking it out of her more than she expected. "Yeah - they should really have one big common room where all the houses can go, then we'd be okay." Shifting a bit closer to him, she surreptiously leaned more of her body weight against him, hoping that he wouldn't notice that she was using him as a bit of a prop
