Week Name/Date/Time: 'Something's Missing Here' / Sunday September 10th, 2006 / 3:08 P.M.
Location: Empty classroom
Open To: Lou
Currently Involving: Brandon

Brandon entered the empty classroom and sighed contentedly. Sure, to most people, an empty classroom was nothing to have a happy over, but to Brandon, it felt like home. This was the room where he and Lou played together, and he'd missed it all summer. There was no one to play with him at home, and even if there was, it wouldn't be the same. There was something about the dusty, disused quality of the air that made him feel comfortable. It felt like the room was only alive when he and Lou were playing in it, like they gave it the breath of life.

And he was pretty sure he sounded like an idiot, thinking things like that. Honestly, "the breath of life." Why didn't he just get a big sign on his forehead that said, "I'm a giant girl. Ask me how!" If he could just find soppy phrases like that when he was trying to write songs, he might actually have something, but alas, he'd been mired in writers' block all summer.

He took another look around the room before plopping himself down on the teacher's desk and taking out his guitar. He wasn't entirely sure if Lou would come this time. He knew she was friends with the girl that had gone missing, and he knew that she might not feel up to playing. Still, in his experience, music had always helped make awful things a little better, and he hoped she'd come. For her own sake.

He glanced at the door and sighed, thinking it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and play a bit, and so he began to strum. He hadn't written all the lyrics to the song yet because of the block, but he had a few lines here or there, and he sang them whenever he could.

It sounded sad in the room without Lou's accompaniment, however, and he stopped almost as soon as he'd started. His guitar wasn't enough to make the room breathe like he wanted it to. Like he knew that it could.
