Noel was determined to do just well enough on her OWLs to appease her parents, and keep up appearances without studying until she drove herself insane. Which meant she had finished studying around noon.

She left the girls dorm, fully intending on heading off for a walk on the grounds until she saw a familiar face in the common room, not that it was all that unusual to see someone you knew in your own common room. "Hargreaves," she smiled, walking over to take a seat by him. "I haven't seen you around much lately. Been spending all your time with books like a Ravenclaw?" She teased.

Hargreaves was a thinker, in general, and was also realistic. He knew that he was intelligent and he darn well wanted the rest of the world to know that too. He knew that his parents had big plans for him and wanted to be able to fulfil these plans. OWLs may seem small, but he knew that everything counted.

Hargreaves gave a polite smile to Noel. "Why, intelligence is not merely a Ravenclaw trait, my dear Noel. I mean to do well on these tests - and make Slytherin proud. I trust you have been working hard?" Hargreaves didn't really understand the concept of not working hard for exams. I mean, who wouldn't want to do well?

"I'd say I'm ready for the tests." She responded not directly answering the question. She had been studying and all, just probably not to the degree that Hargreaves considered "working hard". There was just no point in focusing on the classes you were going to fail either way.

"Of course everyone wants to do well, but it's good to be relaxed for tests. So you shouldn't overwork yourself." Noel was confident in this theory, she had used it many times.

Hargreaves saw through this easily, but wasn't overly bothered by how much Noel had, or had not been studying. It was none of his business, after all. He couldn't resist one dig, however, at this rather gung-ho theory of hers. "I find that confidence in one's preparation is more likely to lead to success than relaxation, but have it as you will." He shrugged, and then smiled a little to signal that this was not the start of an argument.

He changed the subject smoothly, a little bored by her already. Hargreaves was easily bored by people, he found. "But everyone seems to be talking about study at the moment. Are you looking forward to your summer?"

"Well, it does take a sort of confidence to be able to relax when the entire castle is stressed out. You're right though, to each their own." She returned his smile. A sort of confidence called stupidity.

"Absolutely. The winter months just seem to be so dreary, and even spring just isn't...well...summery enough I supposed." Noel replied a bit dumbly, she just got a little excited when it came to vacations, especially summer. "And it'll be nice to be free of certain people for a few months." She really meant a couple specific people, but surely her housemates would take it another way.

Hargreaves nodded politely at her comment, although secretly he was doubtful of this approach. Oh well, each to her own, as Noel had said. They'd see who came out best, after all.

Nodding, he agreed with her. "I know exactly what you mean - the true warm of summer can only be found later on. I personally shall enjoy some leisure time outside, watching some Quidditch perhaps?"

He frowned at her comment. Hargreaves was perceptive for a male, and he noted Noel's slightly unusual wording. "Certain people? I do hope that no one has been giving you trouble?" He didn't really care all that much, but he was a loyal Snake and anything that threatened one of them also threatened him so he was anxious to know more.

"Of course." Noel grinned widely, summer needed to come faster.

She should have known, he was indeed a sharp one. "Well, I didn't exactly have the best luck last week," She admitted. After all Hargreaves was a housemate and a team mate, surely she could trust him. "During that whole fiasco with people ending up all over the castle, I ended up in Gryffindor Tower. Only Abernathy was there, but she's really quite dreadful all by herself." Noel remembered the event with a sour look on her face.

"And then later in the week some Hufflepuff boy named Brandon put me in a full body bind by the lake." She lamented. It was a bit embarrassing, but perhaps it would get out that Brandon of Hufflepuff liked to attack girls. Never mind that she had hexed him first.
