One foot crossed over the other, the toe of Dorian’s expensive left shoe filled the hall with an annoying clicking sound. The new Auror was eight minutes late, not at all a good impression. He’d been ordered to meet… it here at half-past noon. Dorian referred to ‘it’ as an ‘it’ because the owl who had delivered the message, a particularly hungry bugger, had chomped off the last bit of parchment that contained it’s name.

So, sadly, Dorian Grace was left in the dark.

Again.

This seemed to be a recurring pattern, one he didn’t approve of at all.

Finally, though, the doors to the hall swung open and his blue eyes darted up, not lifting his head just yet.

Brilliant.

Georgia Roberts. Not to say she’d always fascinated him, but now she did. Now that she hated him, of course. Hatred always made everything a bit more fun, in Dorian’s opinion, and it had been a favorite pastime of his to try out his dirtiest material on her while she was in training.

Needless to say, he was a fan of Gia’s reaction. Which made her presence very, very pleasing to him. Dorian could use some banter! He did have to admit, thought, that he respected the woman. She was good, from what he’d heard. Ah, well, that wasn’t really what was on his mind at the moment.

“Come now,” Dorian tutted, cocking his head to the side a little as he looked her over. “That’s hardly the reaction I’d like! Let’s try it again, hmmn?”

With a grin, Dorian clasped his hands behind his back, bouncing on his heels a little as he strode up closer to her.

“The Ministry has sent me a play-thing, then? Lovely!”

Georgia Roberts knew exactly who she was supposed to be meeting at 12:30, which was why it was much easier for her to not be on time. It hadn't taken very long at all to dislike Dorian Grace. When they'd been in school together, he'd hardly opened his mouth.

She very much preferred the Hogwarts era Dorian Grace. Any woman with a decent amount of self-respect would understand why.

She was, however, used to those with his mannerisms. She had been a Slytherin, and it was no secret that the house was filled with slime. His efforts to annoy her during training were... well, he did have some interesting material, but she was much stronger than his average 'play-thing'.

"The reaction you imagined with the wrong head, I'd assume," Gia answered him with a frown. She had weeks of this to not look forward to.

"The ministry has sent someone to actually do work. You can play all you'd like in the minors, Dorian, but leave the auror business to the competent."

“Guilty,” he admitted, sticking his hands into the pockets of his trousers as he shrugged. Dorian allowed his grin to curl into a sheepish smile, one without much sincerity. This is what he’d been missing! Lovely comments that degraded his character and that were generally insulting!

Oh, he loved it! Why? Dorian didn’t have the slightest idea, but it really was quite fun on his end.

“What minors?” Dorian asked, feigning innocence. It would be ridiculous to really pretend like he’d done nothing wrong around Gia, even though she didn’t know about Adriana. That was successfully kept a secret, minus that little gossip problem that still floated around. But, they weren’t speaking at the moment, and not in the “We’re to busy snogging to talk!” sort of way. Problem was solved for now.

“That woman was of age, I promise. I’d be more than happy to tell you exactly how I know, but… its, well, rather risque for Great Hall chatter. Accompany me to my room and I’d be more than pleased to share, though!”

After a moment, he added, “Interpret the word ‘share’ loosely. Be imaginative! I meant it in more than one way, love.”

Georgia was well aware that the sheepish smile was just for show. If she was right and he was guilty of what she'd implied, Dorian Grace wouldn't be sheepish about it. He'd be bloody proud of it, and if she was 'fortunate', he'd give her the details of exactly the reaction he'd been hoping for. Apparently, thank merlin, he was willing to skip that imagery for the day.

"Act innocent if you like, but the day I catch you in the broom closet with the young, blonde Gryffindor, that one with the skirt that hardly covers her bum? Oh that'll be a fine day indeed. Getting you fired and a Gryffindor expelled in the same day? Christmas in April, mate," Gia answered him with a smirk, rolling up the ends of her sleeves and taking a good look around the Great Hall. It had been ages since she'd eaten here, spoken to someone here. A variety of memories she couldn't quite take in all at once.

"I'd rather not see the rash, Dorian. Keep it in your pants and tell me how things work around here. If you have any knowledge of being an auror, that is. I'm not sure I've ever witnessed any great display of intelligence."

Ah, no, he’d move slowly. The imagery would come later.

“Honestly, that wasn’t my fault,” Dorian insisted, rolling his eyes. “You never told me about that fling you had in Panama, how was I supposed to know that I would catch it from you? Thankfully, it’s all healed and back to working order, if you’d like to check. I’d not mind, really.”

He sighed in a rather bored tone, tilting his head up to observe the ceiling idly. “It’s dreadfully boring,” Dorian informed her bluntly. “Save for the attacks a few weeks ago, nothing goes on. Several students who were supposedly strongly pro-Voldemort have either died or left the school, there isn’t really anyone that shows much promise.”

A lie, of course, but whatever. He was good at lying.

“There’s not anyone I’m worried about, really. Except for myself. See, I haven’t exactly had much… company these last few months, so I really WOULD appreciate it if you’d accompany me to my bedroom. ‘Nice to see you again, Dorian, lets have a look at your knickers,’ that sort of thing. Granted, I’d much prefer you going past the knickers a bit, but I really couldn’t think of a word that’d be proper to say aloud.”

Was she supposed to appreciate his pace? Anything he wanted to throw her way she could easily reject no matter how fast it came at her. She was used to telling him 'no' by now.

"Are you implying that you slept with Miguel? I know you've had thoughts about me, but isn't that taking things a little too far?" Gia asked with a raised eyebrow, pretending to grimace at the thought of it. She'd not be checking on the status of any part of his anatomy, thank you. Unless said checking required... oh, drilling holes into his skull or something of the sort.

Gia took in a slow breath as his wording, ears twitching as she thought about how odd it seemed that he'd choose to say 'shows much promise' as opposed to 'appears threatening'. Perhaps for someone like him, being a pro-voldemort students was showing promise - the promise of something to actually do around the place.

"Really? I'd love to rummage through your knickers drawer. You wouldn't mind if I stole a pair, would you? The girls back at headquarters refuse to believe you've actually gone so far as to soak your briefs in cologne," Gia stated with a snort, heading back out into the corridor, not bothering to determine whether he was following her.

“Darling, of course not,” Dorian shot back, wondering if there really WAS a Miguel. He thought he’d made up the panama fling on the spot, part of their little game. Well, if Georgia Roberts DID have an affair with a man named Miguel in Panama… he’d want details. “You don’t remember? Our weekend in Egypt? Looking out at the Sphynx as we... well, you SHOULD remember. It was fantastic, if I do say so myself. I’m quite positive, though, that it was this Miguel that gave you that nasty rash, which you then passed on to me. Kept me bedridden in the not-so-fun sense for a while, it did. You owe me, love.”

… Of course that was what he meant! Er, naturally! She knew he was a Halfblood, so Dorian hoped he hadn’t given her any reason to suspect him. Though, things WERE dull. He’d even appreciate a huge…. “WE LOVE DUMBLEDORE!” rally, or something. Anything, really, just as long as he could be entertained for just a little while.

Dorian bit his tongue for a moment, smirking at the back of Gia’s head. He quickly fell into step beside her, He often thought she was wittier than he was, but Dorian would shove that away quickly. His wit was one of his best attributes! It came second to no one, he thought, though Georgia nearly matched him.

“Feel free!” he returned, seemingly chipper. “I do, however, expect something in return. What are you willing to give up, Miss Roberts?”

Georgia wasn't fond of the name 'Miguel', nor was she keen on visiting Panama anytime soon... meaning she hadn't been there in her lifetime. Honestly, he could think what he wanted, it didn't change reality.

"You know, I can't remember a thing about that, actually. Knowing how you operate, Dorian, I'm sure there was no mutual consent here. Took advantage of me, you did. Sounds like you owe me. Perhaps a trip to the wizengamot," Gia answered him with a pout, playing the victim. Wasn't that hard to do, truth be told, as she was the unfortunate victim of his pathetic attempts to be flirtatious.

Georgia knew that Dorian was a halfblood, but that didn't mean she didn't have reason to suspect him. As an auror, she had reason to suspect anyone. She was a muggleborn Slytherin - it was practically an oxymoron, which meant she had learned to never take anything at face value.

Of course, she wasn't placing him on some list of incredibly dangerous persons. Bloody hell, if only she knew!

Gia didn't understand why he had to follow her. There were other aurors stationed about the castle! Sure, at the moment they were all male, but at least then he had a chance of finding someone who might give a damn about what he was saying - she certainly wasn't the one to care.

"I know what I'm not willing to give up. Women don't take kindly to being accused of spreading disease. Lesson number... oh bugger, I forgot you're the only Ravenclaw in history to have trouble with learning!"

Safely behind her, where she couldn’t see, Dorian’s jaw feel open just slightly, eyes glinting in admiration. He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, and fought to keep a wide smile off of his lips. Dorian loved it. He really did.

“Georgia Kate, you were more than willing,” he said with a laugh, as if he was her husband of several years, or something. “Granted, you were a little... hammered, but I was more sloshed than you were. So if we were to throw around some blame, you’d be the one to have taken advantage of me. It was brilliant, though. I like my women to be domineering.”

It was a shame, actually, that she was a Mudblood. He’d done a good job ignoring that buggery little fact though, and sort of liked Gia regardless. Okay, it was a BIT more than ‘sort-of-liked,’ as Dorian, in his odd, twisted, irrational way, sort of considered her a friend.

…. Weird. Really weird.

His ego also assumed, however, that she sort of liked him too, in the friend sense. Any rational person would laugh and see that such an idea was completely daft, but Dorian had taken a break from rational. Even when Georgia TOLD Dorian she didn’t like him, he didn’t believe her.

Confidence was a wonderful thing, was it not?

Ah, yes, there WERE other Aurors at the castle, but none with the same, uh…. attributes she had. Really, there were things that made males like to talk to females. … A pair of things, rather.

And besides, she insulted him! She was completely horrible! She was witty!

It needs to be said again: Dorian LOVED to be insulted, loved the banter between him and Gia. It was sort of brilliant, in his mind, and he’d actually missed it.

“But Darling,” Dorian drawled, arm sliding around her waist, hand low on Gia’s hip. “I completely forgive you for it! I don’t blame you in the slightest, which is why I’m giving you an open invitation to my bedroom. Stop by and service me whenever you like!”

…He was positively disgusting.

Dorian loved the thrill of the chase, of women insulting him so his ego could later be boosted... possibly even more than was necessary. Gia? Well, she enjoyed a good cup of tea and some sickles in her pocket. He could admire as much as he wanted, but it would change the fact that Georgia thought he had some serious issues that needed attention. The most obvious of which was his excess amount of testosterone.

"One point for you, Grace. I'm not giving you the satisfaction of a reply to that," Gia answered him with a shake of her head. She'd ignore the fact that she was smirking, even if it were only the slightest hint of one... a lip twitch, so to speak.

While Georgia would never, at least as far as she knew, be able to consider someone like Dorian Grace a friend, she'd at least allow him to be called an acquaintance. He was bloody annoying, and not worth a snog in her eyes, but... well, he was witty. Kept her on her toes, which could never really be a bad thing. If she truly did loathe him, she'd not constantly encourage him by answering him with wit of her own.

She didn't like him, but she could tolerate him. That was more than she could say for most people. Unfortunately for him, she would never, ever let Dorian know as much. Besides, it really wouldn't have bothered her if he buggered off for good. Perhaps she was horrible.

In the blink of an eye her wand was under his chin.

"I remember the offer, Dorian, you've made it several times. What I don't remember is giving you permission to put your hands anywhere on my person."

Maybe that was it, Dorian wasn’t really looking to evaluate it. He DID know he liked women that were strong and independent, and liked knowing they could probably kick his butt with ease. He’d never been drawn to the girls that were too easy, the ones that came to him… with the exception of Adriana. She wasn’t stupid, however, and Dorian knew she could hurt him easily if she wished. He didn’t want a damsel, to but it simply, he wanted someone that could match him in every way.

He didn’t admire her in the same way he admired Adriana, or that one bit he’d spent a weekend with in Paris, but in the sense of… respect, in co-worker… ness. He didn’t have any serious meaning behind his seemingly constant propositions, Dorian merely admired her in the professional sense.

And enemy sense, he supposed. Whatever.

“You don’t have to, Love, I’m sure you’ll show me how you feel later. Can I assume that there will be leather involved?”

If one tolerated Dorian Grace, they liked him. That’s how it went in his mind. Give him an inch, he’d assume it was a mile.

Merlin, she was so sodding hot. Too bad the thought of actually DOING anything with her made him feel like he was going to vomit. Not an insult to her person, or anything, but she was so good. …Not that Dorian had standards, or anything, but her loyalties would make the entire thing much less fun. No, Dorian’s attraction to Gia was sort of missing in action, as the only thing he really liked about her was her willingness to, uh, kick him in the pants. Sort of. In the figurative sense.

… probably in the literal sense, too, but luckily, he’d never had to experience that one.

Dorian’s eyes widened just slightly in surprise, darting down to what he could see of her wand. His hands were immediately in the air, but he tutted at her once more. “Darling, we’re really got to work on that temper of yours. It’s not healthy to be so violent. Let’s kiss and make up, hmmn?”

Georgia was somewhat similar (oh merlin, similar to him?) in that she wouldn't want some weak, reserved person in her love life. Then again, she didn't want a lack of control in her relationships either. She'd not been fortunate enough to meet someone who'd be a partner to her, a match of sorts. Gia, however, was in no rush for anything of the sort.

In the meantime she could observe what not to accept, as far as propositions were concerned. She received several that were not exactly welcome. Half of those were from Dorian, and oddly enough... were somewhat more bearable than the rest.

Perhaps she assumed he was all talk. Couldn't blame her.

"Oh, absolutely! A leather boot, perfect for kicking you out the front doors," Georgia answered him with a chuckle. Leather? REALLY? He was ridiculous, always had been.

Georgia couldn't say that Dorian really appealed to her in the same way she appealed to him. He was always well dressed, and perhaps more clean than most men, but the cocky grin had always thrown her off some. Plus he gave off the phony sophistication vibe, which had bothered her the entire time she'd attended Hogwarts. Women were funny in that way... it couldn't be only looks sometimes. At least not once one had met the man in question.

A slight jab to the underside of his chin and her wand was back at her side.

"It's not violence, darling, it's tough love. The next step is to avoid all forms of physical contact. It's for your own good, I know you've had trouble performing... at work."

Or at least she could assume his mind was elsewhere. She simply needed to find the blonde, bimbo student who'd prove her right.

Dorian, too, wasn’t in any hurry. He had no intention of settling down, ever. Ever. Old man Dorian Grace would still be as manwhorey as young Dorian was. He just liked it when he found someone that could match him temporarily. Long-term? Ew.

Dorian would still entertain the idea that in a way, she liked his propositions. That they were… comforting. Gia would certainly miss them if he were to leave, he thought, and stayed up many a night thinking about what sort of knickers he wore, and how lovely, exactly, his hair smelled just after a shower.

Again- confidence was a lovely thing.

“A shag on the grounds? My, Georgia, I never would have thought you’d be so… adventurous.” He smirked proudly. Git.

Her wand was pointed right at his jugular, so when Gia prodded him, Dorian couldn’t help but let out a small, choked noise. He assumed she’d probably get some pleasure from it, which made Dorian scowl at her for a second. Once she put her wand away, he ran his fingers over his Adam’s Apple once, then stuck both hands back in his pockets.

Georgia should feel much safer now, thank you.

“Tough love?” Dorian asked, raising his eyebrows. That, of course, was the word he decided to remember. Accentuate the positive and all that. “Why, Darling, I… well, I don’t know what to say to that! I had no idea you felt THAT way about me, I… I’m flattered! I can’t say, though, that I feel the same way. Too many women, too little me, that sort of thing. You’ll definitely bump up a spot on my list, though, I’m not completely heartless!”

The sweet smile would’ve been believable- had one been deaf.

Ah, well, there WAS blonde, but she wasn’t a bimbo! Dorian didn’t make a habit of snogging bimbos, thanks very much. Except that one back at the ministry, but... well, that was hardly important.

Georgia was thankful that times changed and people were eventually separated. She had no intention of being around to witness Dorian Grace as a 70 year old still hitting on young women. Or old women, or whoever it was he'd be hitting on. There was a possibility it would be his coat rack. The image of a senile Dorian was too funny to pass up.

When Gia had said he was well-groomed, she hadn't meant that it was attractive. It was simply a fact. If he stopped showering? Well, it would probably better suit his dirty character.

"Oh not me, silly. That Creatures professor has had his eye on you for ages, he told me so," Georgia informed him with a smirk. Not that she'd even met the Creatures professor yet, but it was a class outdoors and... there you had it!

Choking noise? Oh yes, it was lovely. Not because she was into the same thing as he (oh, UGH), but because he'd annoyed her and now he'd gotten his jugular stabbed. TOO FANTASTIC.

"I can't help but feel love for those who lead such pathetic lives. Much like a rabbit, however, and not so much how you were thinking," she retorted, patting his shoulder.

"Besides, I'd rather not take the place of that fifteen year old you've been eying. She works much harder than I do pretending to want you."

A senile Dorian Grace wouldn’t have to do “hitting on” of any sort, seeing as he’d still be on the receiving end. He was a very good thing, and women didn’t pass up very good things, no matter how old said good things were.

Really, law of nature. Come now.

Ah, but to Dorian Grace, being “clean and well dressed” was one of the highest compliments. Whether she wanted to or not, Gia would’ve added an amazingly large number of points to his ego had she said that out loud. It was no surprise that Dorian paid a lot of attention to his appearance, possibly TOO much.

Dorian snorted softly, bouncing on his heels again as they walked. “I don’t fly that way, I told him so last week. If you suddenly get a bouquet of roses at your door, though, don’t be alarmed. I told him you’re ready and willing and delightfully kinky- just enough to pretend to be me. Don’t let the poor man down again, Georgia, I already told him you were easy.”

He chose to ignore that not-so-nice jab of hers, and would concentrate on more pleasing topics of conversation.

This time, that topic was Adriana Winters. Minus the name, naturally.

“She’s seventeen, actually, and quite smart,” Dorian said, completely serious. It was easily taken as a joke, though, especially given the way he and Gia teased. That was the irony of it! “Brilliant shade of blonde hair, of course, I wouldn’t settle for anything else.” Quite pointed, obviously, as Georgia was a brunette. In reality, Dorian didn’t have any standards on hair color, he’d take anything.

“And she came to me, actually!” he continued, thoroughly enjoying himself. “Cornered me in a dark corridor, tugged at my tie, was deliciously coy and cheeky, it was quite lovely. You should try it sometime, love, perhaps it would help improve your dreadful record with men.”

Women didn't pass up 'good things' with money. He'd have to start pretending he could actually do his job and earn his way before he could safely state that women would still be attracted to him at an old age. Georgia? She was a horrible person who honestly hoped his bum became saggy and unattractive? No reason of course for the specific body part. BUGGER OFF, BRAIN.

"I'm not easy, you are, if that's the part I'm playing. I'm sure I could pull it off with no trouble. In fact, I might not be qualified for the role. My brain is larger than a pea," Georgia remarked, beaming at him and taking pride in her own jab. Gia Roberts could keep up with his wit. HA.

Georgia had assumed he was an every-hair-colour type of man, it didn't bother her much to hear he liked blondes. Actually, she could only wonder why in BLOODY HELL he was bothering her when her locks were far from golden.

"Perhaps that's all true, but she's seventeen. That means she's an adult by wizarding standards, and where's the fun in that for you?" Gia asked with a snort.

So she was supposed to drag Dorian around by the tie in order to attract other men? That was easily done. He'd not said snogging was a requirement!
