Week Name/Date/Time: 'Attack of the Wheezes' / Thursday, March 30th, 2006 / 8.00PM Location: Gryffindor 6th Year Girls Dorm Open To: Lexi Currently Involving: Esme
Lexi was having quite a similar problem, in fact. Ever since that.. err, display of romance with Thatcher earlier in the week thanks to a misplaced love potion, she was feeling a bit odd. Almost scared of herself, weary to end up embarrassing herself even more
( ... )
When Esme heard Lexi walk in she popped up with a grin. "Surprise! ...Except not really, I just fell off the bed." Laughing, she climbed back onto her bed, crossed her legs and looked at her dorm-mate.
She hadn't seen much of Lexi over the last few days - not even in the library - and she wanted to know all the gossip! She'd heard something about a snogging session between Lexi and Thatcher and she as already suspicious about what was going on between those two. However, Lexi wasn't quite as loud and open as she herself was so she had to go slowly and not just jump on her and demand details as she was dying to!
"I'm bored Lexi! Stay here and chat to me to keep me from eating this entire packet of Bertie Bott's Beans. Want one?" She held out the packed towards Lexi and gestured for her to come and sit on the bed too.
Lexi jumped slightly as Esme popped up from behind her bed, smiling and shaking her head at the girl actually falling to the floor. "Are you okay?" she asked, brows furrowing as she walked further into the room, setting her bookbag off to the edge of her own bed.
Oh, Merlin, she had heard something about that snogging on the couch with Thatcher? Oi, she had secretly hoped that everyone would just forget about that and they could all pretend like it never happened. Err... not very likely, this was Gryffindor House, but hey, she could dream!
"Sure, thanks," Lexi replied with a grin as she turned to face her friend, really not able to resist any kind of sweets. She was indeed the biggest sucker for anything chocolate, but she couldn't deny her sweet tooth in general. Crossing to Esme's bed, which was directly across from her own, Lexi took a seat, reaching over and snatching a bean from her pack. "You know me, though, it's not like I'm brilliant at coming up with anything interesting to chat about."
Of course she had heard about the snogging! It was... it was snogging and this was Gryffindor - the two went together like magic and Merlin!
Esme turned up her nose in disgust as she accidentally ate a mud flavoured bean. "Ugh," she said, "I always figure that there's not much point spending ages picking which bean to choose seeing as that you're normally wrong, but sometimes I wish I was a little more selective!"
Lexi not interesting? Esme loved to sit and chat with her - she was a nice change from the loud, crazy people she usually hung around with and she could be trusted. But she was determined to get to the point, so she waited until Lexi had a bean in her mouth before remarking casually "Guess what? I saw Thatcher yesterday! He's looking happy at the moment, don't you think?"
Yes, Lexi would regrettably agree that was the truth.
She chuckled lightly from the look on Esme's face, cringing a bit herself in sympathy, knowing from experience than some of the flavours were rather horrid. "Oi, I usually end up with grass or tuna fish, even when I'm trying for blueberry," she replied with a sheepish smile, nodding her head and staring intently at the bean currently in her hand. Hmm... it looked like toffee
( ... )
Esme was a little concerned at Lexi's choking fit but wasn't fooled that it was the bean that caused it. Lexi's blush and sheepish words alerted her immediately to the fact that there was definitely something going on.
"Well there is for me, I've had a terrible week! Which is why you should be nice to me by telling me just what exactly is going on between you and Thatcher!" she said triumphantly. Hopefully Lexi's sympathy would be raised without the exact details of her Dustin fiasco being found out. Esme would have to be careful to keep the attention on Lexi and Thatcher and away from her own antics.
Wickedly, she couldn't resist adding, "I heard you two were, you know, official now..." Of course, she knew nothing of the sort - but maybe it would shock Lexi into revealing what was really going on!
Coughing fit subsided and bean completely swallowed, Lexi just focused on gaining her normal breathing pattern. Which, was becoming increasingly more difficult as Esme went on. Thatcher had only technically asked her out two days ago, and it wasn't that she was ashamed of it! Heck no, she was happy! There was just some odd fear of expecting people to cringe and secretly wonder what the hell Thatcher was doing with someone like her.
Well, no better way to distract Lexi than to bring up anything relating to boys; more specifically, anything relating to boys in which she had recently made out with on the couch in the middle of the Gryffindor Common Room.
"What?" she gulped out, straight after Esme's words and almost interrupting her as she trailed off. Suddenly, the temperature raised about 50 degrees inside the room, deep red blush over her entire face. How did she find out already!? Lexi had hardly seen anyone let alone spread it all around! For mostly Isaac's sake, she didn't want it to get rubbed in his face
( ... )
Esme squealed in delight and bounced on the bed. "I knew it!!" she cried, grabbing Lexi's hands and making her bounce up and down on the bed too. "I just knew it!!" A huge grin was plastered on her face - Esme loved happy endings and she also loved seeing her friends happy so this exciting news made her almost fit to burst.
When she calmed down a little, she felt a little bad that she had barged right in and forced Lexi to tell - her poor friend looked extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed and Esme felt a surge of guilt, remembering that Lexi was quieter and more private than herself. "Oh Lexi... I'm sorry to be so loud and annoying and nosy but I'm just so happy for you!" She smiled at her friend and offered her the packet of Bertie Bott's Beans again to try and make amends. "And I bet you want to know what Thatcher said to be about you...?"
Merlin. Lexi was going a much deeper shade of red when Esme started to squeal and start bouncing up and down, biting at her lip idly and not quite sure how to go about this whole routine. As much as she was utterly embarrassed, she couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. That was a nice one! Esme was happy for them? That was... brilliant. Lexi grinned at her friend, through the horrible blushing.
"It's okay!" she reassured her friend, smiling still. Oh, this was totally awkward for her, but that was just her own insecurity. Truly? Lexi practically wanted to burst and chat about how happy she was. Oh, if that potion was still in affect, Lexi would be jumping around on her bed in girly SQUEES and blabbing non-stop about how she fell for this brilliant handsome bloke.
Alas, Lexi was now back to her more usual shy and introverted self.
"He said something about me?" she asked, then, nose scrunching up in surprise. Well, Lexi couldn't contain her curiosity on that one, now that she was tempted with a little hint!
Esme noticed Lexi's deepening colour and made a big effort to calm herself down even through her excitement. Taking a deep breath, she stopped bouncing and restrained herself to just a huge grin. Seeing other people happy made Esme happy, she just couldn't help it.
Esme settled down a bit to try and make Lexi more comfortable. "He said he fancied you very much indeed!" she announced happily. "He seems really serious about the whole thing." She reflected that Thatch probably wouldn't be too pleased to hear her say that but never mind. Lexi was grinning and Esme was pleased to see her friend look so happy. She was hoping for some juicy details but had learnt not to expect too much from the quieter Lexi.
Tossing her gaze downwards, Lexi fiddled with the bottom of her shirt, trying desperately to will the heat from her face. Oh, she had never gone about this whole... girly talk about boyfriends thing! With Julian, he was a Hufflepuff, and word hadn't spread quite so much through all of Gryffindor tower. Sadly, that relationship didn't last long as he left only a month later. Lexi was in hopes that her and Thatcher would last a little longer than that!
Scratching at the back of her head as Esme answered, Lexi tried to force back the massive grin that wanted to show itself, cheeks flushing more at hearing. She never really knew how to take compliments, it made her feel all sputtery. "He.. err, told you that?" She raised her head back to Esme in question, taking that peace offering of more Bertie botts and reaching for another. "I mean.. that's good, that's great! I do too. It kind of happened out of nowhere, but... I'm really happy." With that, the grin broke through anyway.
Esme was a very girly girl and loved to talk about boys with other girls - especially when things were going well! Lexi was so cute with that huge grin on her face as she talked about Thatcher and Esme was pleased she was so happy. Young love!!
She realised that Lexi wasn't quite comfortable spilling details though, and so she decided to give her poor friend a break from pestering her about Thatcher. It wasn't fair on her to get poking at something that she didn't really want to talk about. So, munching on two beans at once (grass and cherry mix surprisingly well!), she changed the subject. "So, having no classes has been pretty fun this week, hasn't it?"
Blimey, she simply just wasn't used to chatting like this when it was about her! With previous dormmates before they left the school, there were undoubtedly those talks about current crushes and boyfriends, but it was always about some OTHER couple - and now, Lexi was PART of a couple! Oi. Scary and brilliant all at the same time
( ... )
It was nice to think of Lexi and Thatcher as a proper couple now. It'd be interesting to see how things developed - and how Lexi dealt with being a bit more of a public couple than perhaps she would like. Esme couldn't see thatcher as being embarassed by anything but Lexi might easily be.
Esme giggled at her friends gestures. It was a bit weird, come to think of it, how everyone had been acting. I mean, give her own encounter with Dustin! If that wasn't a case of serious hormone trouble then what was??
She chuckled, "I like it! Hormonal Hogwarts Week - Strike of the Snogging Students!" She threw out her arm to the side as if gesturing to a crowd. "It has been odd though, to say the least. Perhaps it's the lack of classes that it sending everyone crazy?"
