How was it that every time Madelaine managed to stop in to see her brother, he'd not been awake? She cursed herself for having the worst timing ever and endlessly pestered the nurse for an idea of the best time to stop by. Maddie was quite certain, actually, the said nurse was about ready to permanently ban her from the wing, but what else was a girl to do when her own brother was lying in the hospital wing.
Despite Hanna's reassurances earlier in the week, Maddie was worried about Charlie. It had been quite a fall, hadn't it? She wouldn't really relax until she saw him good and awake.
She hovered in the doorway, standing on tiptoes as if that would allow her to see his bed better from there and biting her lip. It was nearly noon! He must be awake by now, surely? Madelaine was a little afraid to be disappointed again, but after another moment she moved, approaching his bed slowly.
"You're an idiot," she commented, not knowing yet if he was awake to hear her. She hoped he would be, this time, even if it possibly wasn't the best greeting to give your brother when he'd nearly killed himself, but he had been an idiot and it was easier pretending to be angry at him over it for now.
Easier than admitted how worried she'd really been, anyway.
