As if sensing the thoughts of Troy Frogley, Lolita bit back an exasperated groan and tried not to roll her eyes or throw an insult at him--just in case he thought their bet was still going on. Promising not to insult people was turning harder to keep up than she'd thought.

Lolita examined the handle of her broom for splintery bits sticking out. More than once she'd grabbed ahold and been surprised when her hand came away full of bits of wood. It wasn't a nice precursor to a game...one tended to be quite down after that. Splinters were pure evil, probably more evil than Wesley Broderick, Lolita thought with a mild smile.

"Who said I praise myself?" Lolita asked innocently, looking at Troy with false confusion. "You must've heard it from some jealous floozy."

Dari had much the same idea as Troy. which had her heading outside, Nimbus in hand, right about now. She'd gone straight to her dorm to fetch it once Ancient Runes had let out. It had been far too long since she'd had a good flight and today was simply perfect for it.

It took her a minute to notice the girl by Troy's side, because she was distracted by seeing her teammate standing there with a quaffle in hand. Apparently great minds think alike, she mused.

"Hey, Frogley," she called teasingly as she jogged over to him, "you sure you know what to do with that ball?" Her grin faded as she got closer and realised who he was with.

"Oh.. Lolita. Hello."

The bet?! Psh, he was far too absent-minded and flighty to remember that. Or at least he was when he was faced with his beloved Quidditch. Perhaps.

He tilted his head and jogged a bit in front of her, walking backwards and facing her as he grinned, "Jealous of your ace Quidditch skills? Or jealous of spending so much time with me? Because both of those sparkling qualities, why Lolita, I'm terribly glad you're so tough and can fight them off! They must be TERRIBLY jealous!" He bit his tongue at her, thinking he looked terribly cute.

"Floozy? Yeah, probably. I mean, who wouldn't be jealous of you, seriously," he jokingly shrugged just as Dari jogged up. He turned around and fell in line back next to Lolita. "Psh, I know exactly what to do with it!" he scoffed good-naturedly. "Be the best Ravenclaw chaser on the TEAM, that's what! Better watch and learn, girlie," he grinned.

His eyes darted back to Lolita after seeing Dari's expression at the sight of her. Well that was abrupt!

If the bet had entirely slipped Troy's mind, perhaps Lolita should begin forgetting as well. Having to bite one's tongue to keep nasty comments from sliding out wasn't fun, by Lolita's definition.

She made as if to aim a punch at his face and purposefully missed. Today wasn't a fighting day--she could feel it. The air was much too crisp and clear to encourage violent behavior. She was like an animal of some sort, her moods changing with the weather. Troy might say she was a bird and then giggle at the double meaning...but then she'd probably elbow him. Hard.

"I'm jealous of people you don't bother," she said with an eyeroll. Typical Troy to think he was a heaven-sent gift to girls.

And with cruel irony, Dari Davison happened to choose that moment to walk up to them. Irony, dammit. Lolita hated that. Her entire life was a bit of tragic-dramatic irony.

Keeping her face still and expressionless, she nodded. "That's me."

If Davison wanted to start a row, Lolita wasn't about to let her.

No, Dari wasn't here to start a row. No matter how much she wanted to smack the girl sometimes. She turned her attention back to Troy and laughed.

"Oh, right.. I think you meant the SECOND best Chaser on the Ravenclaw team. Seeing as how I can outfly you any day of the week!" she teased back with a grin. "Don't tell me you need to be reminded of that..."

Troy smirked, not having the usual sweetness with Dari that he tried to show with other girls. After all, she was just like one of his Quidditch buddies. A Quidditch buddy who snogged just as easily as say hello, but a Quidditch buddy nonetheless. "Keep telling yourself that, Davison. You might distract the other players with your. . .feminine wiles or summat, but pure Chaser skills?" He shook his head, looking totally smug, "You can't be good at everything, after all."

His eyes seemed to beam at Lolita, not realizing it. She had his attention now, even if she did badtalk him. It really only made him like her more, as lame as that made Troy. Hey, a challenge, right? "Come on, stop scowling and let's get to work, Damon," he grinned and lightly elbowed her.

"Maybe you can learn a thing or two, Dari," he snickered and stepped onto his broom, soaring into the air.

Good thing Dari didn't seem up to starting some drama. Lolita just might knock her out cold if she did. She'd had just about enough of that girl.

Genuinely surprised that Troy wasn't falling all over Dari, Lolita did a double-take and blinked at him. "You feeling all right?" she asked with sarcastic concern. "Don't tell me I hit you too hard with that bludger," she teased good-naturedly, even though that bludger was nonexistent. She couldn't remember the last time they'd played; it'd been so long ago.

Yes, Troy may have been lame, but that was part of his charm. Though Lolita would never say it aloud--much less to his face--he was truly fun to listen to...most of the time. "Scowling? Me?" She put on an indignant expressiong. "You're kidding, right? This is my happy face." In response to his elbowing she gave him a playful shove, unable to keep a small smile from playing onto her lips. Troy? Lame, yes. Funneh, twice as much.

"Of course not," Dari called back teasingly. "I'm wretched at Transfiguration." She grinned, pretty much ignoring the interaction between him and Lolita, because, really, what was she supposed to say to that?

She rolled her eyes instead and mounted her own broom, taking off just after Troy did. It was a gorgeous day and she wasn't about to let that girl ruin it for her. She was here to enjoy a good flight and that's just what she intended to do.

"What, Lolita?" Troy tilted his head to turn his hear to her, jokingly. "Bludger?! Maybe that's what I mistaked being completely knocked about by your absolute CHARM with!" He grinned, jumping back with a laugh before Lolita could punch him or summat. Too late; she shoved him back. He'd keep on with the compliments, hoping something would work.

Of course, nothing would, but he was oblivious to his own lameness.

Hovering in the air high above Lolita, he gave a nod to Dari and threw the Quaffle up in the air, zipping forward a bit to catch it. He waited for Lolita to join them, and kept himself busy flying in slow and steady figure-eights.

Oh, there he went again with those charm compliments. Honestly, with Troy, sometimes Lolita didn't know whether she should laugh or cry...or beat him senseless. The third would most likely be most fun, but knowing Troy, he'd probably say something perfectly pathetic and make her feel bad about it. Sigh.

It wouldn't have been a bad morning at all, but the perfection--or near-perfection--was marred by Dariana Davison's presence. Why couldn't she just take the fact that Lolita was near as a request to get lost? Always missing the obvious, Lolita thought, irritated.

She glanced back at the castle almost forlornly, wishing she hadn't gone outside in the first place. Now she was stuck with one of her least favorite people, and who knew when she'd be able to get out of it?

Standing rooted to the ground, Lolita stared at a patch of frosty grass in front of her, pissed of like no tomorrow.

Dari couldn't care less if Lolita wanted her to leave or not. It was a free Pitch today and she wasn't about to give up prime flying weather just because some girl had decided to hate her for no reason.

Dari grinned as he tossed the quaffle. "Oi, that was weak, Frogley," she teased, though he voice was probably lost in the wind as she showed off a bit, flying a couple of intricate patterns and then zooming towards him quickly, putting on the breaks just as she reached him.

"I know you can do better than that," she added with another grin.

Troy flatly ignored Dari, not entirely stupid. He may have been oblivious to lots of things, but when he really was interested in something, he took notice and actually used his brain.

And for Lolita, he would.

As Dari flew towards him he absently flung the Quaffle at her, then headed down to the ground. He saw Lolita staring off into space, looking very angry, and felt very sympathetic. He couldn't imagine what was wrong, as he had no idea that Lolita disliked Dari, so he merely hovered in front of her, brushing his foot along the icy grass. "Damon," Troy looked at her meekly. "Anything the matter? Anything I can do?"

Of course there was a reason! With Lolita, there was always a reason. It just so happened that the people she hated were never bright enough for the reason to actually make sense in their heads. In Davison's case, that was likely so. The girl missed just about every single subtle criticism thrown her way, and probably would continue missing it even if it began to hit her upside the head.

Some Ravenclaw you are, thought Lolita. Take a freaking hint.

Lolita blinked and snapped out of it, shaking her head as Troy neared the ground. "Nothing's ever the matter," she insisted, looking up with a stoic expression. Her eyes fixated on a point in the air, far behind Troy's shoulder. The target was Dariana Davison, and the projectile was a steely glare.

She swung a leg over her broom and pushed off the ground, taking the opposite end of the pitch. Briefly she wondered which side Troy would be taking, then decided it wasn't worth contemplating.

It wasn't that Dari missed the other girl's criticism's of her. She just didn't care. Nor did she see how the number of guys she flirted with or did whatever with was anyone else's business. She wasn't stupid, she knew her reputation around the school. She'd been through enough criticism in her own family for even stupider things to really take it to heart very often.

And right now she really, really didn't care, because she was busy enjoying this day. She expertly caught the Quaffle that Troy tossed her way, shrugging in indifference as he headed for the ground.

A series of turns and loops and she was near the goal, flinging the Quaffle through and racing into a dive to the other side to catch it again. Granted, this wasn't as fun as scrimmaging a bit with a friend would be, but she was in the air and that was the most important thing. Whatever drama Lolita might be having over her presence? Wasn't even a blip on Dari's radar.

Indifference was something Troy adamantly disliked, especially in others. After all, this was the boy who tried to get everything out of life, every feeling, good and bad, happy or sad. Indifference? Well, he didn't know anything about it, and perhaps this made him see Dari differently as she shrugged and minded her own business when someone else was seemingly upset. How could anyone not care? Wasn't it good human nature to show concern, or at least some interest at all? How could some people be so cold? Troy didn't understand how some could be like that, innocently enough. Sure, he wouldn't feel the same in a day; he didn't keep grudges. But for some reason, he picked up on there really being no general concern in that girl whatsoever. And he didn't like that; at least now ( ... )

Whoa, the wind was harsh at this height. Lolita gripped the handle of her broom as tightly as possible, fingers going white with cold and pressure. It was like choking the breath out of someone...

...No. No angry thoughts today. She'd already promised herself she wouldn't give her family history of heart troubles an advantage over herself as well. If assorted aunts and uncles chose to drop dead, so be it. It wasn't Lolita's problem. No sirree, Lolita Damon was determined to not suck at life ( ... )
