"Me. Too," Darcy whispered back to Annabelle. And well, they could HOPE whatever they were doing was not connected to the smell! After all, there were all kinds of things going on in the greenhouses every day! Maybe this smell was something the seventh years had to do. Ooooh, yes, that would be much better. Darcy decided that must be it, and she resolved to tease Deirdre about it later.

It was wishful thinking, and the instant she caught a look at Professor Murphy's face, Darcy knew it. She pulled a face at the description of what they were going to have to do, but went and began pulling on her gloves and a mask immediately. "Is this straight?" she asked Veronica carefully, not wanting to approach the ...material before she knew the mask was well in place. Then she turned to Annabelle again. "Ick, no, don't be excited! Let's just get it done fast so it can be over with!"

Once she was facing the project up close, however, Darcy's enthusiasm waned a bit. She turned to the teacher and addressed him seriously through her goggles. "Professor Murphy," Darcy said, casually and only slightly muffled, "did you ever know that Hogwarts has house elves?" She eyed the manure again and then returned her gaze to him. "I'm just saying."
