First Years (Combined Class)

((Finny will be part of the posting order until I take him out. Sooo... have your students come in, take a seat, and be prepared to have Prof. Murphy explain what the lesson is!))

Finnian Murphy was more excited for his first year class than any other this week, or so he would tell them as they entered the door so he could get their own excitement level going! Normally, Finn had his first year students do the boring assignments, such as watering plants or pruning things. It was recommended by the powers that be that first years did more book work than anything hands on or dangerous, simply because they were younger. Well... NOT TODAY. After hearing that Faust had left, Finnian took it upon himself to combine his lesson with Defense today, though they'd never realise it at first. No, Finny prided himself on being a bit of a prankster. So, when the first years thought themselves to be watering cabbages, they'd get a nice surprise...

of the Chinese Chomping variety. He could only hope they'd come prepared with wands as was so clearly directed the week before.

Kamil came storming into the greenhouse, nearly knocking a plant of two over, but catching them in time. He was so excited to start class! Herbology was his favorite and it was so much fun! To know that Kamil could give the 'gift of life' was so exciting to him.

Laughing slightly and taking a seat Kamil said, "Hello Professor Murphy - sorry about that." He hadn't fully tipped the plants over, but bits of dirt had fallen out here and there. Whoops!

Adam entered the greenhouse soon after Kamil. He was also excited for the lesson, because like Kamil it was his favourite, but he'd seen Kamil's collision with the plants and didn't want the same thing so he'd slowed his pace down to a walk.

He took his seat and smiled at the Professor. "Hello Professor Murphy." He took his wand and his books out and placed them on the table in front of him, waiting for the rest of the class to appear.

Unlike the two boys, Herbology was quite possibly Jeannie's least favorite subject. Ughh. The Professor was nice and all, but... still. Plants? Icky.

Still cheerful despite this, Jeannie quickly came into the room after the boys. "Hi, Professor!" she greeted him cheerfully, taking out her wand. She had only remembered to bring it because she feared that the plants would be evil and stuff. You know. Evil. And stuff. Er.

Niamh didn't like Herbology much at all; it was usually boring. Or at least until the plants turned out to be mean or evil and tried to bite. Then it was just scary and possibly even worse than boring. She didn't mind the professor as he was usually nice and sometimes even made things fun, but the subject was leaving her with doubts and her first year wasn't even halfway through.

She trudged into the greenhouse uncertainly, glancing around a little nervously. She had her wand tucked safely in her robes, never one to forget what she'd been told in class to bring for the next lesson. She was always determined to be prepared, after all.

Her eyes landed on Jeannie and she made a beeline for her friend, knowing that Jeannie felt much the same way about the class as she did, if only for different reasons. "Hi, Jeannie," she said, giving her friend a smile, though the rest of her expression said, I hope this class goes by quickly.

Finnian grinned widely as his first years began to enter the greenhouse. He knew that last time he'd assigned watering plants, some of the first years had complained about having a boring task to do. Well, now they were going to get a second chance at watering to see if he could change their mind. MUAHAHAHA, Chomping Cabbage, indeed!

"Ah - don't ye worry aboot tha', Kamil," Finny greeted the young bloke as he nearly toppled over some plants he was growing for some fellow Professors. No damage done, and they weren't special or biting or anything!

"Aren't ye both jus' visions in green?" Finnian chuckled as Jeannie and Adam entered, both prepared with wands. Either they paid attention in class the week before or they were both the suspicious type. Either way, good sign!

"Hullo Niamh! Good t'see ye in the greenhouse today!" Finnian said extra cheerfully as the Ravenclaw approached, knowing she wasn't too fond of the subject. Perhaps she enjoyed defense more? If that were the case, she was in luck today.

"All ah've got for ye is some plants tha' need waterin' o'er here... bring yer wands, as ah'm suggestin' it an' I know best," Finnian informed them with a grin and pointed to the patch of cabbages. Now was the time for the typical 'pretend to be working but secretly spy on the students and watch chaos ensue' part of class. Hooray for tradition!

Kamil just nodding at Professor Murphy as he watched Adam enter the room not too far after he had. Smiling, Kamil waved him over and pulled out his wand as Professor had recommended.

As Professor moved over to his desk and continued to work Kamil wispered to Adam, "Can you believe this?! We have to water plants again!"

The girls entered the greenhouse as well, and Kamil just waved hello to them. They weren't too important then, were they? As Kamil walked over to the cabbages, he grabbed a watering can and attempted to water them. Little did he know, as soon as he did so, the cabbage jumped nearly bit him.

Dropping his watering can in fright, Kamil backed away terrified. "Adam - what was that?!" he said back to him, frantically searching through his bags for Matt's or his old Herbology books.

Adam grinned at Kamil as he made his way over to sit by him.

"I know. It's so boring! When are we going to get to some real stuff?" Adam whispered back, pulling out his own wand.

Adam also waved at the girls. He figured at least they'd be happy about this lesson. Standing up, he followed Kamil over to the cabbages, also grabbing a watering can on his way.

He jumped as Kamil dropped his watering can. Did that cabbage just try to bite him? Adam looked back at Kamil, his eyes wide. "I'm not sure..." he said slowly, wondering what was going on. He'd never seen a cabbage that bit before. "Maybe it's a trick..." he said, stepping forward and trying to water one himself, only to jump back as Kamil had done when the cabbage jumped at him. "...or not." He said, turning back to Kamil, a look of confusion on his face.
