"Nice design," Isaac said as he leaned over to Avery who was playing with her food, "hi Avery." He knew her from around the common room and through mutual friends. He leaned back to a normal sitting position across the table and slightly to the right of her. Isaac had come in for a late lunch before his study hall, which he happened to have with her as well. He smiled to her, just trying to be friendly with her. "You look a little bored," he continued.

It wasn't like he was trying to be up in her business or anything. He had just seen her sitting there and she looked like she could have wanted someone to talk to.

((I have a study hall thread going as well, and you're welcomed to join.))

Avery looked up from her mashed potato, which now had nice little creases on them, creating a wave-like effect on it, to see Isaac's smiling face. Nodding and smiling back at him, she set her fork down and tried to wave off what she had just been doing earlier, before he "caught" her.

"It looked more violated than actually having being designed on, from what I see," she commented, lips pursed and tried to turn her plate around to look at it. Of course, they'd been housemates, but she had seldom talked to him, too. From what she could see, he wasn't a typical Gryffindor like most of the other 7th years were, which made him the odd one, not unlike her.

Using the side of her fork, she poked holes around the lump of potato and nodded. "Maybe just a little. You've been here for a while? Sorry I sort of spaced out there."

((Sure! I'll jump in later when I could find time ;)))

Isaac shook his head, "No. I just sat down a few minutes ago, and I just saw you sitting here. I'd thought you might want to talk. You don't have to talk to me if you don't want. I just thought I might be polite." His intention wouldn't be to make her feel guilty so she would talk to him. He was just wanting to give her a choice. Some people didn't really get choices to talk to others, and this felt like a good time to not be one of those people.

She was a nice girl after all. He just wanted to make her feel less lonely, and less bored. No one wanted to feel either of those, especially him. No one deserved it either. He was very much agianst one person being both of them at the same time so he would always try to remedy it, and in hope others would do the same for him, if the occasion came, which it often used to. Now he was only bored. With Astrid being his girlfriend now, he never had to worry about being alone, because all he had to do was think about her, and she was there.

Hearing Isaac's reply, Avery immediately brought up one hand and tried to wave it off. "No, it's perfectly fine. And I am rather in need of company actually. I hope I didn't come across looking anti-social or anything." She smiled sheepishly at him. Though, she was still a little relieved that he had the courtesy to ask if she wanted company rather than just sitting there and chattering away. And try as she might, she couldn't deny that it got a little intimidating sometimes.

Luckily, the very first time Soren actually did that, he was not at all intimidating, being himself and all. At least this was someone she count on being being predictable in all his unpredictability. However ironic that sounded.

"So... do you have any other classes after this?" It was one of those fool-proof lines, so she thought it couldn't be doing any harm.
