Iago, was in fact, not Preston, but he did, however, hope that Audrey would like some company. He was in dire need of someone to talk to. Someone who wouldn't be rude, and might just understand. He was finally ready to talk. To talk about Niki. Maybe Audrey wasn't the best choice every, but, she would have to do. She was there.
He walked over to the arm chair beside her, and sat down. He stared at the fire for a few minutes, and then looked over at Audrey. "How are you, Audrey? Fine I hope?" That was a good conversation starter, and it would hopefully bring the subject up someway. He hoped.
Hmm, well, if it weren't Preston, Iago was probably the second best!
And of course she would enjoy his company -- the two friends had somehow lost track of each other throughout the last few weeks. Even if he wasn't her betrothed, Audrey was more than happy to see a familiar face. At least with him, she didn't have to appear as if she were interested, because she was interested.
Although... there was something amiss with this scene in front of her. Iago didn't exactly appear to be himself, did he? It was too subtle for her to notice just by watching him, but there was some sudden feeling in the air -- Iago's mood somehow transposing onto Audrey, a heavy weight settling right in the middle of her gut. Her mood instantly turned from gleeful to somber.
"Hello, dearest," She smiled lightly in greeting once he had finally spoken to her, Audrey allowing the first few minutes of his appearance to remain in silence, "I am well. And you?"
Iago sat for a moment, contemplating exactly what he was going to say when the need arose. He couldn't just blurt out that he was lonely and that he felt insecure without Niki. No, that would be the wrong way to go about it.
"Hello." He smiled softy to her. Audrey had to be one of the most understanding people in his house. Most of them could care less about anything but themselves. Audrey, at least, seemed to care. Somewhat. "I'm glad you are well. Myself, on the other hand, I could not say the same."
Alright. So maybe she wasn't so bad with the understanding thing, but don't tell her that, for she would surely deny it. Well, maybe she wouldn't deny it outloud -- but she had a way of denying such things to herself. No. She didn't think she was understanding in the least. Not when it came to other people. It was always a hard thing for her to be loving and caring to those around her, mostly because she was so stuck up on herself. She was perfect at appearing to be interested in the well being of her 'friends', when the need arose, but in all actuality, the sincere moments were few and far between
