Mimi, on the other hand, did not hate dinner. She enjoyed it. It made her stomach happy.

Know what else made her happy? Chatting with mates that she hadn't had a chance to chat with lately. One of those mates? Ben Conelly. Why hadn't she had a chat with him in some time? She had absolutely no idea! Well, this dinner was the perfect oppertunity to remedy this.

Walking over, she plopped down beside of him. "Oh hay Ben. Why so glum looking?"

Ah, dinner again. Potatoes and starches and such. Anything else to get her fat and then have to dodge the Puffs yelling and. . .

Ben? At dinner?! Uusually he just showed up later and ate alone. Was he being social?! With OTHER people?! Even MIMI was sitting by him! What?!

She stopped in her tracks when she saw him hunched over his plate, shovelling food around. She wondered if it really was him. Well, only one way to find out. Sit down next to him and stare. Which was just what she did. Not a word, only a sit down and stare, waiting for him to notice.

“Nothing,” Ben replied. He flipped the book closed, set down his fork and crossed his hands. “You seem chipper,” he said, a slight smirk on his face. “Anything particular happen?”

He raised an eyebrow as Avis sat down. “Er, hello there, Abernathy.” Usually she couldn’t shut up. Now she sat across from him and said nothing? … weird.

And so he gave up. Girls were beyond him and were too much trouble. So, he opened the book again and dipped his head back down.

Mimi smiled at him. "Nothing, eh? Well, I guess that's okay. At least at dinner." She laughed. "What brings you down to eat dinner with the rest of the school. You hardly ever do that..." He wasn't the most social bloke out there, and she wondered what had brung him down to the Great Hall.

She sighed and placed her head on the table. "Nope, nothing really. I just....feel like being chipper. Ever get that way?" She waited for a responce, but at that moment, Avis came and sat across from them.

"Oh, hello Avis! Having a good day I hope?"
