To Saffron Mayloski, an A was not Acceptable. Really, it stood for Atrocious. Staring at her paper angrily, she bunched it up and shoved it into her bag, which sat at the foot of her table. Wasn't it enough that she started studying at seven in the morning? Clearly it was not, and she decided that she would start going to bed earlier and getting up earlier to study. Even if History of Magic would not do her any good in her future, she needed (for the sake of both her pride and spending summer the way she wished) to do well. She leaned over her notes, inspecting a word that she couldn't clearly make out. With disgust she realized that it was actually a doodle. That must've been how she got such low marks; she probably spent the entire class just doodling! Sitting back up straight, she furrowed her eyebrows she tried to remember drawing, but no instance came to mind. Despite this, she was still completely fed up with herself, and lifting herself from her seat, Saffron gathered her things and quickly made her way to an empty couch.
She dropped on the couch heavily, frustrated to the point that tears were welling in her eyes. Never in her life had she been incapable of doing something. Sure, she had needed help before, but, never was she a complete failure. She threw her bag to the ground, hearing a very rewarding slam as her heavy books hit the floor. She blinked away tears and sniffled. Though, the sniffles were not from the impending tears. No, they were from that blasted cat that Juhi had. What was it's name? Bean? Yes, that was it. If she wasn't mistaken, it had kneaded her head the night before. Saffron didn't really mind that - it was the claws sticking into her head and the allergies that made her most angry. That and everything else, of course.
Saffron took a minute to take a deep breath, trying to relax in a bustling common room. It did help, though, to listen to the fire crackle as she thought of happier things. She wondered how Niamh was doing, or if Mason was still getting in to trouble. Some how, these things managed to make her laugh and the tears that were once of the upset variety quickly became ones of joy. Sighing as she came out of her laughing fit, she curled up into a ball, and decided she would just wait until she was tired. Then, she would be able to go to bed and hope that Bean would leave her alone. Plus, she couldn't really hate the kitten, it was so bloody cute.
