It was very, very cold. And perhaps Phoebe was very, very stupid to be outside at this time, but she didn't think she had anything better to do. Honestly. So she was huddled up under the tree, with a thick jacket on but enjoying the crisp way the air seemed to be in the winter.
But she wasn't just sitting there, doing nothing! Of course not. She was sitting there, doing nothing, with a book. And not just any book. A joke book. Phoebe loved to laugh- and she loved others to laugh. And jokes were pretty funny. Also very handy to keep about.
The thing is, some of the jokes were really actually good. So Phoebe, curled up in her big jacket, would be looking pretty strange to any outsiders, occasionally giggling and burying her head in the book, laughing too hard to see straight.
It was a pity that one of the one people she didn't really want to see her looking so silly was the person who happened to approach her next.
