Brenden sighed. Really, it was rather early to be trying to sleep. It didn't help anything that he wasn't tired. He had come up and lain down, hoping to sleep, for no reason. He'd tossed and turned for twenty minutes now, and nothing had come of it. So, he threw back his quilts, and marched downstairs.

Funny, the common room wasn't all that full. He looked around, trying to find someone to talk to. Jory! He'd work perfectly! He seemed to need to someone to occupy his time. Walking over he waved. "Oi! Jory! What's up mate?"

Jory looked up drowsily, nodding toward Brenden. "Hi Brenden," he said through another yawn. It was true, the common room wasn't full at all; those that were around seemed to be working, and the room was quiet. "Um, nothing," Jory replied with a small smile, glancing down at the parchment in his lap. "Just trying to force myself to do homework, really."

He moved over a little in case Brenden wanted to sit. "How're things?"

Brenden nodded. "Ahhh, Homework. Work of the devil, that stuff is." Of course, it wasn't really. He loved it really, and enjoyed doing it. Most of the time. But, none the less, he laughed and winked at Jory, who seemed to not have quite the passion for homework as he did.

He sat down when Jory moved over and sighed. "Not much of anything, really. Same as always. Lessons, quidditch, you know, the usual."

Jory, who indeed had absolutely no passion for homework (nor did he have anything that even approached a synonymical definition of passion for homework), chuckled at Brenden's comment. More than that, he did have somewhat of an idea that Brenden didn't share his thoughts as far as homework went, and was amused that he would make the comment for Jory's benefit to begin with.

"Hmm, quidditch," Jory murmured, his monotonous tone of voice at odds with the purely elated expression that came onto his face at the mention of the sport. There was a subject someone could have passion for, so to speak. "Is Emmy keeping you lot, um..." A grin crept onto his face. "Busy, then?" he finished.
