A blank sheet of parchment lay before her on the desk with her quill hovering just an inch above it, poised to begin writing. But the words weren't coming to her. Her mind was completely away from the subject of her intended article and instead on her roommate. Or former roommate.
Frustrated, Rae dropped her quill onto the table with a huff, pushing her blond hair back and leaning back into her chair.
It was quite a shock to know that she wasn't there anymore. They had shared the same dorm for all of their years, and had been fast friends since their first year. This sort of thing didn't happen to people like them. They were supposed to live...and with all of the perks while others suffered. This was not how things were meant to be.
"What happened..." she whispered, placing her chin in the palm of her hand and drifting off into her own thoughts, unaware of the people or happenings around her.
