Noah pulled at his robes, flicking at a piece of lint as he walked down one of the quiet side streets in Hogsmeade. He turned left at the next street looking at the end of the short street, he could see the inconsistent flow of the main street
( ... )
Abel looked over at the greeter; of course, it would be Noah that was in Hogsmeade. He distinctly remembered the Auror telling him that he liked to visit the village for lunch or breakfast. Now he wondered if that meal plan involved dinner as well. "Good evening, Noah Barr." There. No more Mr Auror salutations that were the usual words between them, now they were actually using each other’s names
( ... )
Noah smiled grimly. "Still trying to figure that out myself, think I will contact some of the other aurors or even think about approaching the Headmaster at this point. I need to know what is going on and what they want of us." Before he went mad, or became the wired person he was before he got here and that is the last type of auror they need at a school full of kids
( ... )
Abel nodded. So he didn’t even know what was going on inside either, huh? Administration these days were definitely going downhill. There was a time when Aurors would be dispatched, secure a scene and immediately investigate and hunt down murderers or other evil wizards while their trail was still fresh. Like how they handled things back when Creed was an Auror... Now? They let Ministry officials come and do paperwork.
Perhaps it was a good thing he had given up that path, Abel wasn’t meant to be just a decoration.
"I’m headed to a shop that supposedly serves good coffee" He glanced sideways at the brunette, "as someone recommended the shop to me. I suppose I should leave my hermitage at some point." He needed an excuse to get out of the castle and he had no preference to alcohol. Going into a tea or coffee house would do the trick quite nicely.
"And yourself?" He highly doubted this was some on-duty chore for the other man, but, with the way he kept looking around, it could be. In that case, Abel didn't want to be distracting.
Noah couldn't help but give the man a sly grin, his eyebrow arching with amusement. "This man trustworthy enough to take advice from?" He looked back out to the road ahead of them. "Did you assure yourself that his taste isn't as bad as hogwash first?" Hell Noah didn't know if he had bad taste, not something he really cared about as long as he liked it.
"I seem to be heading to the same destination as you, I trust that his man's taste isn't too bad." He stopped outside of the shop, looking at the window. "This would have to be my first time spotting you outside of her hermitage, not celebrating something are you?" He looked to Faust. "First time all your students passed a test? or did one show you a shred of competence in class?"
He always found students very reckless with wands, he was sure adults thought the same of himself when he was in school, especially the ones that ended up in one of his 'misplaced' castings.
He frowned slightly when he saw the waitress, she was pleasant but exceedingly annoying.
"Hmm, I hope so." He passed Noah an unamused look, though nonetheless, mirth was still visible in his blue eyes. "Or else I might make him a test subject for the new toad tonic one of my students came up with. Results not guaranteed." It was beyond his comprehension why his second year gave him such odd things. Perhaps it was because of the Troll mark he received yesterday.
So Abel would have company today. That was better than sitting alone, even if the company was Noah Barr. "Celebrating? Recent events perhaps?" That was a morbid thought right there, celebrating the recent deaths wasn’t anything to even joke about. He regretted that line. "Sorry, that slipped."
He followed the brunette’s gaze to the waitress in question and shook his head. "I suppose this might be one of the reasons the man keeps returning to this particular shoppe."
Noah flashed Faust a wide eyed look. "You would be willing to kill the man if he has bad taste?" He laughed, grinning. "Now that is very honest of you Faust, openly admitting to poisoning a man because any potion from a student is clearly going to end up as nothing else but poison." Noah also noted not to take anything the other man offered unless he was certain of its contents. Odd he had a nostalgic feeling, he distinctly remembered coming to that conclusion about Jesse back in his sixth year.
"Ah such bitter words, surprised you beat me to them actually." He paused briefly before adding. "Mind you I never mean them, just sounds like something I would say." They were nasty thoughts, two deaths were nothing to celebrate. Well not in a situation like this, this was disturbingly wrong.
Noah frowned shaking his head. "Let's put it this way, she is the only reason I am not in here more than once a day." He sucked in a breath and nodded towards the door. "Shall I show you why?"
Abel flashed Noah a raised brow, "No. But some corrective measures should be taken." Of course, Abel was always honest. Honest to the point where he was sometimes dead blunt and sometimes said the things that the other person didn’t want to hear. However, it seemed that with Noah, he wasn’t going to have such problems.
He shrugged, "Perhaps with this the Headmaster will finally return and we’ll have some form of organization. It’s honestly pure chaos now." Even before the deaths, he had seen nothing but professors flirting with each other and the Aurors.. actually, now that he thought of it. It seemed to remind him of some dramatic soap opera with mysterious loves, deaths and all.
A distraction sounded pretty good about now so Abel nodded to Noah’s suggestion.
Noah smiled and pulled open the door, the smell of coffee and baked goods instantly wafting into his face. Stepping in he gave a warm smile to the waitress and as expected she gave him a wide grin and one of her little waves. He turned his attention back to Faust, someone who held up good conversation.
"I hope he does come back, he always seemed good at handling such issues and this situation could definitely use his touch right now." In all honesty the environment around the castle had been a strange one since the Headmaster's leave.
Noah sat down at the first free table, looking at Faust he leaned back in his chair. "How is classes going for you anyway?"
Abel found himself taking a deep breath once he entered the little shop. While he had never been especially fond of drinking coffee, the smell of it always served to relax and wake him up. He really ought to find some coffee scented oils for aromatherapy. He could use the smell during those long, tedious hours of marking.
"Any idea why he originally left?" He followed the other man and took a seat across from him. Surprisingly it didn’t feel too odd to be sitting in a café somewhere with Noah Barr as company. "I see, you have admirers here." He glanced at the flirtatious waitress. "Does that get you brownie points on service?"
Classes were starting to get on his nerves, particularly with the older years. "I think there will be more upcoming tests. My classes seem to need them."
Noah shook his head. "I never caught wind of why he left." Maybe he was going downhill in his Auror abilities. His mother would be overly happy he was sure, tell him to settle down and have a nice family. The spy stuff was too up and go for her nerves as she always said, and he would always reply with 'I'm usually pushing papers around the office'. As expected she never took him seriously, he didn't blame her either
