Week Name / Date / Time: 'Trick or Treat' / Wednesday, November 2nd / 5 p.m. Location: Empty classroom on the 7th Floor Open to: Erik, then after a bit Lauren Currently Involving: Juhi and Erik
"I know it's not lying, but it feels like it, sometimes," Juhi replied. "I'm sorry, Skippy, it's just. I'm scared. And sometimes I'm scared that it WON'T be alright and..." she trailed off, and shuddered. The problem had come from the fact that saying those things without being sure herself had led to her to understand that...the adults didn't know, either. And she was left feeling quite helpless truly frightened.
She thought that it probably WOULD get better. And were she not so shaken up, she would have been more careful to make that clear to Erik. But the thought process was still somewhat new to her. And her belief in Erik and his ability to take care of himself and be brave and insanely strong was not shaken in the least, and she had already been existing in a state of almost constant worry for HIM. (Not that it was always at the forefront of her mind; usually it was lurking, but always there.) It was the idea that something so terrible could happen to anyone, seemingly randomly...and in HOGWARTS, that had inspired her to talk. And the fact that so far she'd been the one doing the comforting.
The realization that he was CRYING made her feel about two inches tall. "Oh, no. Oh, Erik, I'm so sorry," Juhi whispered. Of course she had felt like talking to him, and it only belatedly occured to her that he was maybe not the best person to go to with such things. She never presumed to understand everything he felt or was dealing with, and he didn't often TALK about it himself. Juhi hadn't forgotten, per se, but him offering to listen had been...well, really appealing. She would have kicked herself if she could, and was slightly angry to feel pricking behind her own eyes.
"Sorry," she muttered again, trying not to cry herself, and she unwrapped her arms from him to gently wipe his face. She kissed his cheeks softly. "I love you, Skippy. And it WILL be okay, and it will probably get better, now. They'll have gotten a wake up call." She put her arms around his neck and pulled his head close to hers, watching him. She didn't tell him not to cry, and certainly didn't think less of him for it. It seemed completely natural to her, given the circumstances. Not that she didn't feel terrible for bringing them about...
"You'll be fine. We'll be fine. I love you. Sorry." She kissed him softly, and a little hesitantly.
The fact that Juhi was apologizing made Erik feel even worse. It wasn't her fault! He was just being stupid, and he hated crying, and here he was. It wasn't even probably he would die. Why did things have to kick in now, all of a sudden?
"No... it's not... urghhhhhh," Erik said with frustration, but laughed at how pathetic he must have seemed as she dried his eyes.
"I love you too. More than anything," Erik replied after he had calmed himself down a bit. They would be fine. He had to believe that!
After she kissed him, he pushed some hair out of her face and stared for a moment, just taking her in. There was no way he'd lose her, and she wouldn't lose him. That settled it.
He kissed her, gently at first and then with a bit more behind it. Just in case things wouldn't be fine. Seize every moment, yeah?
Juhi felt a little reassured when Erik said he loved her. Not so much because she NEEDED to hear it to be reassured, but because it nice that he'd been able to make a complete sentence about something pleasant. This talk hadn't really gone so well, then, had it?
Luckily her desire to discuss the situation in any way with anyone had now totally abandoned her; but she also felt slightly awkward. Mostly because she'd been the one to bring up the subject and she had no idea what to say next.
Erik staring at her made her slightly nervous for a moment. She looked okay, right? Merlin, HE looked...good. Really good. He'd changed clothes and so was more like Erik, and of course there was always the floppy hair. Then there was the fact that he'd been crying, which was somewhat heartbreaking, yes, but now his eyes were bright blue.
Juhi stared back at him, and her stomach buzzed at her. Yes. Slightly nervous. Erik leaned in to kiss her, and she caught her breath. After a few moments of kissing him back softly, he shifted things a bit. Juhi scooted a little closer, pulling her arms tighter around his neck and leaning into him. Mmmmnn. No. This talk had not gone very well, for a talk.
