"Reparo?"
No good. Not enough conviction, perhaps? He'd never used reparo on shoelaces before, but he didn't see why it shouldn't work. He drew his knee up to his chest and settled his right foot on the bench, leaning forward to get a better look at the broken shoelace of his trainers.
Not that Jory really cared whether or not his shoelaces were broken, but a broken lace meant he couldn't tie them, and not tying them meant tripping, and tripping seemed like A Thing That Would Happen to Jory. He also didn't really care if anyone saw him trip, but bloody hell, what if it hurt? It had begun to worry him the slightest bit and he'd tossed his journal and quill aside, hoping the (apparently therapeutic?) journal entry would write itself while he grappled with shoelaces.
He aimed his wand at the awful shoelace again. "Uh... reparo." The lace made a half-hearted attempt at piecing itself back together and then gave up, flopping limply onto his sneaker. Jory frowned at it. "Well, fine," he mumbled under his breath. "Don't, then."
