Veronica didn't know what was wrong with her today. Maybe it started with her nightmare, that Jackie yelled at her and told her that she shouldn't keep hiding, that it felt as if she were ashamed of her cousin and that was why she kept everything a secret. Top that with the fact that she fell out of bed - the first time she has ever done that. It just didn't start her day right.
She was normally calm and mellow, quiet and observant. That was her, and she really couldn't change herself if she tried. But today, she felt different somehow. It didn't help her mood that she received an OWL from her parents today. It was about her sister's winter wedding - the one Veronica had been dreading. Turns out, she didn't have to attend. Her sister's maid of honor and bridesmaids had changed the color scheme once again, and since she wasn't available to go for alterations for the new dress, they would make an excuse that she had school and couldn't get away.
Veronica read the OWL with trembling hands. She knew she should have expected it... but really, she hadn't. Why did it hurt so much then? They just didn't want her.
