Ohhh yes, SO HE THOUGHT. Much to his soon to be disappointment, Dustin did have onlookers. Or rather, one. Or rather, Ophelia. As 45 minutes was by far not enough time to finish ones lovely buttered-bread sandwiches. Alas alas.

Empty Great Halls were quite discomfiting, good thing there were a few of your odd hangers on still fiddling with their food to make Ophelia feel as though she were not all alone. Of course, they usually weren't a great source for amusement, NOT SO TODAY.

"Eh, EH! YOU THERE!" Ophelia hissed over to the Puff table. The boy looked typically Pufflike. Ridiculous hair and a silly face and she knew not what. Though she was finding these sorts of blokes were wonderous fun to tease. SO much more up for it than the bloody Lions.

Dustin rarely heard music in his head to accompany his life, but apparently there were instances that required it. As soon as he heard a voice ring out across the Great Hall, a voice that was no doubt intended to be heard by him, and rather loud and ominous DUN DUN DUN buzzed through his head. He lifted his eyes from his now scattered scones and found himself pairing the mystery voice with a face.

SLYTHERIN. Oh how Dustin feared them, even the wee ones! Not that she was very tiny. In fact, she looked very built for her age, which he guessed to be around third year or so. The only way he knew to identify her was beater for Slytherin team. He knew all the Quidditch players by now. Made a promise to himself that he would. Only, he could recall Erik pointing her out to him, calling her "Mallard". Perhaps she was fond of ducks. That didn't seem too scary. Though, it all depended on what she DID to the poor things. She looked rather intimidating ( ... )

Aghast! Yes, aghast was most assuredly the word for Ophelia's expression at the moment. Aghast and by far, much shocked. Of course, she was actually quite pleased. Who knew these Puffs had it in them? Quite shocking indeed!

"WELL listen to me young man!" Ophelia called back out, then paused. This just wouldn't do. Terribly impolite this was, calling out across a hall. There were others present! Well, about a dozen anyhow. Taking an enormous last bite of her sandwich, Ophelia grinned nastily and brushed her robes free of crumbs. She jumped out of her seat and made her way over to the boy. Oh yes, even more silly looking upon closer inspection. Such a lovely house this was. They even brought them their scones in forts.

"Listen to me, I say. Don't think you should go around wasting a good scone or two by piling them on top of eachother as such. BAD MANNERS, do you hear?" Ophelia leaned over and stared him straight in the eye. Scare the scone-wasting instinct clean out of him.

Young man? What? Dustin was too busy trying to figure out why on earth she'd call him that when he was clearly older than her to notice that she was now headed toward him. The 'DUN DUN DUN' from before? Yes, it was much louder and continuous now that'd he noticed she had left her spot from the table. If only someone had made him a prefect! At least he'd have a reason for a bit more confidence.

This would normally be the part of the conversation of sorts that he would run off, still screaming apologies as he went. But, well, Dustin was in a bad mood, and anyone's company seemed better than none at all. Besides, she wasn't really like the other Slytherins, was she? Actually, she reminded him of a bit of his older Gryffindor cousin Roger who'd graduated the year before, not that he'd say so to her. Mallard. WHY Mallard? Frustration. That was all he felt at the moment.

"Who died and made you Queen of the Scones? Do they send you messages as you sleep? Are you going to tell me they have feelings? Because I have had a very tough time ( ... )
