Jaci arrived to class just a few minutes early, but she was out of breath. Only her wand was in hand, which meant she remembered the instructions from last week. She looked a little nervous, but she was doing the best she could to calm her nerves before class actually began.

After a couple of seconds worth of deep breaths, she dared to give the professor a little smile. "Good afternoon, Professor," she greeted him softly. She didn't wait for him to respond, however, before her eyes closed agan and she began practicing the wand motion and incantations of the spells she would need once inside.

((OOC: Ben promises to be active this coming week, and we will hopefully have a new 2nd year Puff in our class as well, she's just waiting to be approved!))

A small, almost smile flickered over his face before he answered, "Good afternoon, Miss. Mannix." She was the only one from the class to owl him with questions and quite honestly, he had a few expectations placed over her head already. She seemed to have potential, and since it was only the beginning of her second year there would be plenty of time to cultivate it.

She was the first one to arrive as well. He would wait until the others showed up as well before he opened the door, less one escaped prematurely.

[ooc; That's awesome! Keri's right? We may have a full class for once. XD Actually, I just realised, let's drag Fi into this RH thread as well. Since she's the only one in the GS block. Miss McFinn! You're in here as well! *hopes you see it*]

Jaci checked her watch, looked down the hall for her classmates, and took a deep breath. It seemed as though she was going to have to wait for everyone else to show before being allowed to beging the task, so she found a clean spot of the floor and tried to make herself comfortable.

"Lumos Ledel," she whispered softly, moving her wand and causing a small light to appear at the end. "Nox." The light went out. "Lumos Ledel," she whispered again, a bit louder, causing the light to be quite a bit brighter than the first time. "Nox."

[OOC: Right, Keri's character, Bea.

Eek! Fi! She might let all of the Hinkypunks out into the rest of the school. :P

I'm fine with us just waiting here (or after your next pose, whichever) until others show up, if you prefer.]

[Fi: hides]

Fi popped up and into the group, grinning ear to ear. "Wotcher, Professor?" she asked cheerfully, then pointed at the door. "Ah, got us locked out, didja? Forgot th' charm? Is alright, I remember, cause in your old age, you've forgotten." With a saucy wink, she let out a sigh, looping her arm around the shoulders of the unsuspecting person standing next to her. Ah, Jaci! "Wotcher, Jaci? Hows tricks, as they say?" Grinning, she reached over to give some random fellow student a solid high-five, then squeezed poor Jaci tight. "Y'see that? They trust our lives with some bloke that leans against locked doors. What's up there, then? Silly."

"Old age?" That made Abel raise an eyebrow and urged him to thwap Fi lightly over the head with his marking lists. "I was waiting for full assembly, Miss. McFinn, before admitting everyone inside. Though with you here, that makes it a full house." Technically there was still a Benjamin and a Beatrice before everyone would be accounted for but he hadn't seen the last two during the first lecture anyways.

He quickly undid the charms but didn't open the door yet. Pointing to the box next to the door, "Inside you will find the nets you are to capture Hinkypunks in. Once the Hinkypunks are captured inside these nets they will not be able to pull loose. Do not, under any circumstance lose these nets." The spelled weaving made them a pricey item and the school had a tight budget as it is.

Jaci grinned at Fi when the boisterous girl draped an arm over her shoulder, linking her own arm up over the Gryffindor's shoulder. "Oy, Fi. Fancy you being in my group today, mm?" The response was offered with a slightly raised eyebrow, a bit of a query.

Her voice dropped a notch or two in volume and she leaned her head a bit closer in to the other girl's, "You're aiming to give the professor a hard time today, aren'tcha? He's a good guy though, I think. And it's hinkypunks today, no?" The poor little Ravenclaw couldn't help but look excited at the idea of this class. "Sadly, I know your hijinks. Just let me catch one first, willya?" but there was a look of doubt on her face.

With a nudge at the other girl, Jaci straightened herself and moved away, closer to the door.

[ooc: oops, I forgot that I wouldn't get an email letting me know you'd posed. Sorry!]

I hadn't even decided to play when you posted that. You can't mark me as delinquent. :( look! you've even given me a sadface!]

Beatrice slipped closer to the door, head down and, yes that was a textbook clutched to her chest with a grip so tight the knuckles were white. Her face, also - that was white, too. Luckily, she's not turned into a colorless blob - she's got the brown hair and black robes, still, and even a cute yellow hair-bob on the end of her braid with jinglebells attached ( ... )

Ah, Jaci knew her well. Fi grinned like a chesire cat, then nodded heartily. "Right then," she whispered in reply, "Ye get one first, then it's my turn, aye? Excellent."

Unfortunately, conversations with Jaci left Fi too distracted to hear her teacher's instructions. Whoops!

Her entire plans for class began to unfurl in her mind. Surely she could find some way to bring humour and light to the situation! Merlin, if only she had brought a whip or rope or.. ahhhh. Professor Bowen taught them accio for a reason! She'd wait until she entered the class, quite possibly while Faust wasn't looking, and quickly accio-- oh, wait. That didn't work. She wasn't good enough to pull things over from floors and floors away. Hmmmm.

Ah, so Beatrice did end up showing, perhaps it was a good thing he hadn't ushered them inside yet. Bringing a textbook too, even though he did say to leave them at the dorms.

"Quickly now, grab a net and go instead. Do not be surprised by how dark it is inside, your eyes will get used to the limited lighting soon." He waited until all of them had picked up a net before opening the door up a crack that was juuust wide enough for a little twelve year old to slip through in. That way he could count each student as they entered and make sure the same number exited. He would enter last after the final student went inside.

He had some final words to say though, "Your challenge begins as soon as you entry. Try not to get lured by a Hinkypunk right away and," the final comment directed to a certain Gryffindor, "no funny business."

Jaci adjusted the grip on her wand and started walking toward the door to the class room, still muttering the necessary spells under her breath. She paused just before entering the room, caught Fi's eye. "Bíodh múineadh ort, Fi? Le do thoil?" she whispered to the Gryffindor before stepping up to grab a net and then on into the room.

Once in the room, Jaci did her best to get away from the door and out of the path of the incoming students and teacher, but it was difficult due to the darkness of the room. She hesitated, but only for a moment, and lifted her wand. "Lumos Ledel!" she called out in a firm voice, causing the end of her wand to glow brightly.

[OOC: "Bíodh múineadh ort, Fi? Le do thoil?" is Gaelic for "Behave yourself, Fi? Please?".. or is as close as I can figure.]

Beatrice held back as the others entered, her right hand straying towards her wand, stuck in her robe's pocket. "Uhm, Professor Faust? Do we have to go in there?" She darted her gaze to the room, then back again. "Uhm, I can stay out here and read more about them, and write an essay and stuff! I don't have to go in there, really." She attempted a sweet smile, and a head-tilt, and other possibly cute things. "What if I get eaten or something? Remember last year when that turtle bit me in charms? Dangerous animals won't stay away from me! I'm doomed, Professor! The hunkypinks are going to sneak up behind me and, and," She became slightly frantic, her voice rising a bit and alternating between strong Yorkshire and French accents - an odd combination, to say the least. "And they might drag me under water and take mes clothes et eat me!"

Abel looked at Beatrice with a without so much as a flicker of a change in his usual neutral expression. "Why yes, Miss. Rooks, you do. Unless you would like to receive a great big F for this assignment. You're welcome to just sit it out then, though, I highly advise against that. The course will only get harder as we go on." He bent over and took her textbook from her, "I'll hold this for you so you can have your hands free. Children aren't part of the Hinkypunk diet so you have nothing to be afraid of. They don't sneak either, they lure."

He gestured at the entrance, "Now follow in after Miss. Mannix."

Oy, they were going after those buggers?!

Fi decided that she really should have paid attention to Faust's instructions.

As Jaci whispered to her in Gaelic, she nodded solemnly. There was a reason why the Care of Magical Creatures professor wished that Fi didn't have to take her course. It was also a bit too soon after a fiasco with a certain group of magical creatures that set her robes on fire, so she was still a bit iffy.

But hey, adventures were adventures!

As she slipped through the door behind Jaci, she got a good, firm grip on her wand. What was it those bloody creatures did, anyway? Hopefully it didn't involve jumping around and/or attaching themselves to her. That wouldn't be good at all.

Jaci looked across the classroom/bog and then down at her shoes and frowned, a look of sheer concentration on her face. "Ah!" she whispered, followed by "Nox!". The aim of her wand was shifted down at her feet in their dress shoes and socks. "Impervius!"

Nothing happened aside from a few sparks coming out of the end of her wand. She frowned again, changing the angle of her wand a bit and tried again. "Impervius!" Again, just sparks. With a shake of her head, Jaci decided to move on, she'll beg of the Professor to help her dry them when she's done.

Jaci waited a few seconds before moving on. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and opened them again. With her wand at the ready, she moved forward, looking about carefully.

Her jaw dropped and she let out a whine. "Mais, professor! I need my book to be certain I'm doing it correctement!" Beatrice wavered in the doorway, twisting at the end of her braid in nervousness. "Et, et..." She paused, backed towards the hallway a step, and whispered, "They're very frightening! Why do I have to go in there? They won't bother me if they don't like children, right?"

She poked her head into the gloom, then turned a pitiful look towards Faust. "Will you go in with me? To protect me, just in case?"
