The temperature had certainly dropped, that was clear to Audrey once she stepped outside the castle's main entrance, tugging her cloak tighter around her small frame. She had just finished her supper, and having nothing to do, chose to take a short walk around the grounds.
It was a bit uncharacteristic of her to be found on the grounds -- especially alone at this time of day, when the sun was slowly sinking behind the hills. But for some reason, she simply did not care.
Maybe it was the weather. Audrey had always been more inclined to cooler temperatures. She wondered briefly if it would start showering again, as it had been the entire day. Hmm. Yes, very uncharacteristic of her, indeed. Audrey hated the rain, but for once, she thought it might be refreshing.
Maybe it would drain away all her thoughts of a certain someone. Because really? Her confusion only multiplied with the talk she and Preston had. And being confused just irritated her! She had come to a conclusion earlier that day that avoiding the bloke would probably be in his, as well as her own, best interest. It would only hurt more if they dawdled around, pretending as if nothing had changed, right? So yes. Starting now, Audrey would avoid Preston at all costs.
A feat of which would soon prove to be impossible...
