Week Name/Date/Time: 'Books of Mystery' / Thursday, October 20 / 3:09 pm Location: Gryffindor Common Room Open To: Trefor, Soren Currently Involving: Jackie
Trefor had just escaped a rather boring Study Hall. A bad of chocolates in hand he walked into the Common Room in a fairly good mood. He saw Jackie and smiled. "Hey", he said as he sat down next to her and held the bag out. "You up for a practice on Saturday. Hopefully a less eventful one?"
Ooo... Trefor sure knew his way to a lady's heart, especially this one. Chocolate and quidditch? Perfect pick-me-up's in Jackie's opinion. She brightened slightly, reaching for a piece. "Hey, Treff." She smiled, although not as widely as she normally did.
"Sure, I'm up for it anytime. I heard it might still be raining, but whatever..." She shrugged. "Rain or shine."
He placed the bag between the two of them while shifting so he could sit indian style. He noticed Jackie's lack of enthusiasm about Quidditch. Jackie usually had a speech prepared about Quidditch. He looked down at the books by her feet.
"Bad class? Anything I can help with? I mean I'm not that great with most of it, but I can always point you in the right direction."
"Class?" Jackie looked distracted, and blinked at him. "Oh...! Um... no, classes are going okay. I just had Defense... and Astronomy is later tonight..."
She sighed, and gave a half-hearted munch on her chocolate. "How about you? Are your classes going okay? How's NEWT prep going? How's Zoe?"
Did she babble on long enough to distract him? Maybe if he talked a lot, she wouldn't have to think about her own problem.
((moving it back to the left so it won't get squished ;).))
"I... I guess we're still on friendly terms." Jackie blew her bangs off her forehead as Soren made them flop down again. She half-smiled, a little glad she wasn't wearing pigtails today or he'd playfully tug them right about now. "Although... we're... um... pretty much avoiding each other right now..."
Ah... Soren's optimism. Jackie had to nod at that. "Maybe... but I..." She couldn't help sighing again. "I... kind of already knew he didn't see me that way... I mean, he treats me the same as he treats everyone, and I... was silly to hope for... something more."
She swallowed. Maybe years from now, Jackie would look back on this and laugh at her first crush. Right now though, it still hurt like hell. She chuckled a bit nervously. "Any of you want to obliviate me? I'd like to go back to that happy sunshine girl you spoke of earlier. This..." she opened her arms "...sucks

Avoidance was so not good. Soren couldn't help but sneak a glance up at Trefor when he thought that, before returning his gaze to Jackie. "Ah, I see. Keeping things cool for awhile might be a good idea. And talking to other people until things don't feel as... intense." He finished off, there was probably a better word to subsitute the last one but he couldn't remember it.
He patted her on the head, "That's not always true. At least you did the Gryffindor thing, taking things into your own hands whatever the consequence. I'm proud of you. You don't regret it, do you?"
If Jackie ever decided to swear off guys completely in that sense, Soren was sure he could introduce her to some pretty birds instead.
Trefor was thinking of how awkward it had been for him and Zoe after they had broken up. No avoidance was a very bad thing.
"Don't go swearing off blokes too quickly. They're be a lot of broken hearts. Trust me." He gave her a grin. "And you weren't silly. It was really brave of you to put yourself out there, and even though it didn't work out this time next time the bloke could really like you and just be too shy to do what you did. And if you don't do what you did next time you might miss out."
He wondered if that made any sense at all. "I think that made sense."
Jackie exchanged looks with the two again, and giggled. If this was their way of cheering her up, they weren't being completely successful. But they were trying, and she loved them for it.
She leaned against Soren's shoulder before reaching up to pat him on his head like he did her. "Well... naturally, in the beginning, I thought I did..." regret it, she meant, "...but at least, now I know where I stand." She sighed, but gave a half-smile again. "Still, one of the guys." Always, one of the guys. She repeated inwardly. Would anyone ever see her differently?
As for swearing off guys, the thought of becoming a nun or a spinster did cross her mind. But as either, she wouldn't be able to have children to name 'Soren' or 'Sorenia', now could she?
She chuckled at Trefor, and gave him a one-armed hug. "Yes, you made perfect sense... for once." She winked. "But I really don't think I'll be fa-" She cut herself off from saying falling in love. "Liking anyone anytime soon
