Bits of Grady and Charlie's yelling match from last night played and re-played in Jackie's mind as she stared at the ceiling from her bed. She glanced over at the clock, watching the hands get closer to nine o'clock. Well, she had been in bed long enough. She whipped off the sheets and pulled herself out of bed.
She peered to the side, noticing Charlie's sleeping form buried under her own covers. Jackie could guess pretty accurately that Charlie had come back late the night before, probably just so she'd avoid her and wouldn't have to explain what happened at dinner. Well, Jackie wasn't going to let her get away with it. She pulled her pillow from her bed, and quietly stalked up to Charlie.
Smack! She walloped her best friend in the head.
