Somehow, Jory had managed to drag himself out of bed after his after-lunch nap, which he had hoped would stretch until dinner -- but alas, he was awake, and it was not so fun lounging about in bed when the sun was actually out for a change, so he'd decided to go for a walk.

Spotting Saffron in the court yard, he made his way over, running a hand through his messy hair. Approaching her from behind, he took a peek over her shoulder at the article in the Daily Prophet. "Ah," he said softly, trying not to alarm her with his creeping-up-behind-her behavior. "It's nice, yeah? Well, not the goblin strike, of course, but the bit where they didn't report any dead bodies today?"

Jory smiled apologetically, not meaning to startle Saffron. He scratched the back of his head awkwardly before sitting beside her on the bench. "Oh, well..." he began thoughtfully, frowning. He forgot sometimes how different it was for Muggleborns. The Death Eaters didn't frighten him too much; sometimes he forgot that they were meant to be feared at all. He paused and then finished quietly, "I just mean, scare tactics don't work very well if there's nothing for people to get scared over."

Clearing his throat, he chuckled quietly, thinking about his mother trying to cook without a wand or magic. "Well, here's hoping no one I know breaks their wand, then. I still wonder how muggles get anything done." He blushed faintly, glancing at her again. "Ah, well, I suppose you'd know."

Saffron appreciated his optimism, if that was what it was. She nodded, her smile weak. "I suppose you're right. Death Eaters really only have the power of fear." She nodded, her previous concerns sinking away. She was never really worried if a Death Eater was going to sneak up and kill her, then again, she wasn't going about and testing her luck. Especially after that Gryffindor's brother was killed - that could've just as easily been her father or mother ( ... )
