Week Name/Date/Time: 'Books of Mystery' / Tuesday, Oct 18 / 10:00am Location: Study Hall Open To: Rylie!!!...and anyone else hur. Currently Involving: Sebastian
Rylie was sleepy, but she didn't show it as she headed toward her Study Hall, stack of books in hand. She honestly hadn't realised how late it was when she composed her latest owl to Sebastian, though this was one lapse in brain activity she could not place any blame on him for. She'd spent many nights losing track of the time in a book, essay, or letter, so an owl for him was no different than all of that. Now, her new and rather disturbing interest in recipe books? All his fault.
She tried to shake these thoughts, however, as she approached the studying area. This was her seventh year, rather important for grades and what have you. As long as she could finish up some homework this morning, she was practically caught up! She was delighted!
Then she saw Sebastian, remembered it was Tuesday, and let out a sigh of defeat. So study plans were likely to go awry, but what did it matter? There was never a bad time to see Sebby.
"Oh ho! Is this what Sebastian Rivera looks like when he's really studying, or when he's pretending to study so
( ... )
Sebastian smirked. Yes, smirked. Obviously, this whole relationship business was going to his head rather more than it should. As he had finally perfected smirking. What would be next, eye-brow waggling? The mere thought was astonishing really.
Of course, the smirk was somewhat lessened when he dutifully took off a book from his stack and attempted to hide a grin in it. Because if he was not going to actually study, he might at least keep up the appearance of it. Or... that was what he'd tell himself, as he had grown unreasonably paranoid about gossip types gossiping about HIM of all people. Who gossiped about HIM, it was more than slightly annoying. And peculiar to a frightening degree.
"Pretending to study Miss Logan? I'd have thought you'd know the difference between me studying and pretending to study by now. Because um," Sebastian paused to turn the book he was holding upright, "... I don't pretend?"
Yes, just give her a smile. Distract from the ridiculousness.
He was smirking again. Something that never seemed to get old. In fact, he seemed to be almost perfecting the smirks. How she was ever going to keep up, she did not know.
Cold shoulder? Was he sticking his head in a book and ignoring her? She stood up just slightly so she could see his face. Hmmn, was that a grin? Sneaky. So he was pretending to study. Well, she'd help him keep up that appearance for now.
"Of course you don't. Well then, I suppose I'll just leave you be, then. Don't want you to fall behind in classes and whatnot," Rylie told him, smirking as they were so fond of, and picked up a book from her own stack.
Placing it carefully on the table upright and leaning down and foward, she hid behind the pages.
Russia's Abuse of Aconite? Bah. She loved potions, but there was no way she'd keep focused on that. Not with Sebby only a book away!
Of course he was not cold-shouldering. Sebastian just didn't want someone to up and point at them, then scribble it down in their lacey journals... or however gossip got around.
As Rylie decided to hide behind her own book, Sebastian managed an eye-brow raise, and let out a chuckle before covering his mouth. No laughing in Study Hall, really. Instead, he put down his own book, looked both ways about the room for intruders aaand.... stopped momentarily to restack the book amongst the others, and push them all to the appropriate alignment. And theeen he tried out his much owled about 'suggestive look'.
Which was not at all suggestive and rather more felt like he was in pain or having to watch Quidditch and being highly confused over it. So he stopped abruptly and hoped no one had seen...
He instead tilted his head to the side and grinned slighty, "Um. Russia's Abuse of Aconite good then? Lots of... interesting... Russians? With Aconite presumably."
Oh alright... not just him. Sebastian let out a sigh of relief that he very much hoped sounded like nothing of the sort. He of course bit his lip again instead, an action to which the consequences of he was blissfully unaware. Though he seemed to have subconciously replaced it for hand tapping. Which was easier on his fingers really. Or perhaps the table-top...
"Well that's... good," he replied trying very hard to not mimick her smirk. And of course failing miserably. Well it was good, and nearing fantastic actually. "...that you like it I mean, because... yes."
Hopefully that made sense. Hopefully most of what he had been saying lately made some sort of sense, or he'd truly be several different kinds of lost. He took this moment of reflection to lean back casually in his seat, which nearly caused his already confused head to lose all balance and topple over. Er, he quickly regained his seating and leaned back forward as though nothing happened.
"Er, not that I'm helpless, of course," there you go, deflect with a joke. And a smirk
( ... )
What were they talking about? She couldn't remember with all the LIP BITING going on! Oh, her brain was slowly and surely losing its ability to function. Thankfully he began to speak, and she was startled out of her daze. Good? Yes, er, good. It was always good, wasn't it
( ... )
Sebastian twitched slightly as Rylie bent forward to pat his hand and brought it back up to push back her hair. He blinked. Um... that was nice. Okay. His mind fizzled just slightly and he brought his own hand up to scritch the back of his neck absentmindedly. He was about to say something about what empty Study Halls did to people, hur hur, when Rylie said... alright. How could he not laugh at that?!
He attempted to keep his mouth shut but as Rylie literally placed her face on the table he couldn't help it, no lip biting would stop it! He laughed and it echoed very nicely throughout the hall, perhaps waking up one or two of their fellow studiers.
"That was, that was very flattering Rylie," he replied in a miraculous monotone, serious as anything, "Yours aren't so bad either."
Pausing, he bite his lip again in amusement and patted her head. Suddenly feeling bashful, he stuffed his hands in his pockets and added in a whisper, "Thought you ought to know."
He was laughing at her? Oh merlin, it was embarrassing, and yet so unbelievably excellent to hear his laugh echo throughout the room. At least he knew she was complimenting him, and oh? Hers weren't so bad either? Very fortunate.
She laughed as he patted her head and brought her (not so bad) eyes to meet his. Numb. Numb was a very good way to describe how she was feeling.
"Oh, yes, well...." she started to say, but the Professor in charge signaled that Study Hall was over.
Rylie felt her heart sink a bit and she gathered her stack of books into her arms. With a smile, she stood up to leave and sighed.
"I'll see you in the common room later, then," she told him and hesistantly left the room.
She wouldn't bother to call this Tuesday morning session a 'Study Hall' anymore.
