The sugarquills in her dream were falling into a conga line and Clover jumped in behind them, while they all sang the birthday song and dressed in frocks made of jam. JAM. It was a lovely dream. They had just started to build a fort of books, when ...

--"ZOMG WHATTEHECK SUGARQUILLBBQ?!!?!" Clover yelped.

She was pounced upon, and at first thought it was the giant book fort collapsing on her and the sugarquill back-up dancers. The girl shot up in bed, panting frantically, only to find as her eyes flew open that the covers were being unceremoniously yanked off her, then hiked back up again. The warm bundle beside her was no sugarquill.

"JUJU! I'ma kill you, I swear!" she groaned, hiding her head under a pillow like an ostrich in the sand. "It's early." She could feel the sun rising higher in their window, the daylight pouring in with gusto. Muffled, "Mmmrff, sleep in like a normal person sometime ( ... )

Juhi slid down underneath the covers. "I KNOW, and I'm sorry. I would sleep in if I could, I swear." Well, no, maybe not. Sleep wasn't all that productive, was it? There were so many other things to doooo. "Only, I'm going insane from the boredom, I need you to help keep me occupied. And from turning into a complete and utter idiot."

Juhi snuggled down into the mattress a little, and stopped talking. She knew Clover wouldn't actually kill her, and so she waited. The sun really was very enthusiastic this morning, wasn't it?

Shifting one more time, to lean over and pull the curtains close again, she hoped that came across as somewhat considerate. Pointing her toes and stretching, Juhi forced herself to relax. It helped just to be in Clover's bed actually. Change of location, but still a good place to try and be calm. Yes. Breathe.

Her left toes wiggled back and forth.

Clover couldn't help but snort and laugh at her friend. She was adorable really. So hyper. Clover was normally this way too -- IN REASONABLE DAYTIME HOURS. Peeking out from under her pillow, she reached across and snuggled Juhi. Mmrf. Friend-sized pillow.

"Utter idiot? Since when have you ever been in danger of that?" she mumbled, her eyes closing again. Sleep was winning out, gradually--

--Until she recalled how her own behaviour of late warranted idiocy. PHILLIP! She hadn't told Juhi yet! EGADS AND PUFFALUMPS. Her eyes went wide again and she sucked in a breath. "Yeah, okay," she agreed. "We need to talk. IMMEDIATELY."

Lifting her chin, Clover peered over her arm at her best mate. "Um ... you first?"

A yawn. She couldn't help it.

"Well, it wasn't three days in a row, really--" she began to protest, as she'd seen him Thursday and then Saturday, but she trailed off as Juhi kept talking, figuring it was pointless to argue. It didn't really matter. Clover giggled with her mate, both of them plenty immature. At least they were immature together.

But then her face fell. Is that what Juhi thought? That he only romanced her to get her off his case? What if that was the truth? A sick feeling settled in her stomach and her brows furrowed pitifully. She rolled away and frowned up at the ceiling, hugging Sir Puffalump.

"I... well... That doesn't sound good," she murmured, feeling unpleasant, painful things twitch at her chest and her eyes. "You think he doesn't really mean it? Oh... oh dear. Of course he doesn't. Why would he? I mean... I'm the plant-freak who's always yelling at him. And.."

She couldn't say any more as her voice decided to fail her, feeling distraught at the sensation of tears behind her eyes.

Juhi looked at Clover as though she had just sprouted a second head. And then the two had begun singing together in slightly off pitch thirds. HONESTLY.She snatched away the stuffed animal (ridiculous people did not get to have comfort from the puffalump...well...not when they were being THIS ridiculous) and bopped her friend on the (singular) head ( ... )
