Soren had been quite comfortable in his room, muching down on the sweets he had purchased during their previous Hogsmeade Weekend. He had made sure to stock up on enough that he wouldn't be running out any time soon until Hallowe'en perhaps, but by then, they would for sure have more in store waiting for them.

At the knock, Soren hopped off from his bed and shoved his stash under his pillow. If it were one of his roommates then he would have cause for worry, they demolished his treats like ... an anteater with ants! Sucked them up like those muggle vacuums, they did.

"Who's there?" He called out suspiciously, ever since that Pink Incident, Soren had been quite a bit wary on who he allowed inside his dorms. He had boobied trapped the entire door frame and even the windows, one could never be too sure!

((hope this works as I'm replying off email rather than going straight to lj.))

Jackie cocked an eyebrow at Soren's tone. He must really be on edge for him not to throw his door open and welcome a fellow Gryffindor into his humble abode. Maybe he really did smell like fish.

"It's Jackie." She bit out, stopping herself from adding, you nitwit. Then again, she'd probably be acting the same way if she smelled like fish. She sighed, and returned to her normally friendly and happy self. "Can I come in?"

He couldn't help it if he was suspicious, the perpetrator for his previous humble pink adobe was definitely the work of a Gryffindor. After all, how could anyone from another house get into their tower and better yet, into his room?

"Jackie, eh?" He unhinged two of the little 'traps' from the door and unlocked it. "I suppose you can." He held the door open to allow her entry inside, though, he couldn't help but look her over, just in case she held something suspicious. Even if she was one of his good friends, this girl also called Charlie her "BFF" and there's always something to worry with that redhead around.

Not that Jackie would ever use the term "BFF" -because frankly, the term made her gag, and she really preferred "BBF" (best best friend) instead - but having to be the buffer between Soren and Charlie, she wondered how she hadn't been split in two.

"Thanks," she replied. She entered his room, a bit cautiously, as he had told her last week that he had booby-trapped everything. Poor Bran. With Soren as his BFF, and Charlie as hers, she thought maybe the two of them should start a club... for sane people.

Besides, hadn't Avery told him about her? Shouldn't he have been expecting her? Maybe that fish thing got to his head, and was affecting his mind. She eyed him and took a step forward, sniffing the air. "What's new?"

Was Avery supposed to have told him about her? Ah, that must have been what she had tried to say right after the Antler Incident but forgot when they were playing with the bubbles. Tsk, tsk, forgetful little kitten. It was either that or Soren forgot altogether about it over the weekend.

“Hum, not much is new. I’m getting back into the grove and started to prep up for some of my classes. The usual. Yourself? I haven’t seen you around lately, funny that.”

Did the girl always happen to ‘sniff about’ so much or was this just one of those habits that revealed itself with age? Soren hadn’t had any type of practise this morning, nor had he engaged himself with any extraneous activity that would make him sweat. He was pretty sure he didn’t smell. Or was this the candy she was trying to whiff out?

He took a step back from her. “Got the sniffles?”

"Not much here either... besides getting Chaser, but you already knew that." Jackie shrugged. She eyed Soren for a bit. Had she been Avery or Lexi, she might've tried to word her next statement with a bit more fluff and sensitivity. But she was Jack, and she knew she could be brutally honest with Soren, just like he could be with her. It was something about their friendship that she liked. So, she took a step towards him.

"I have it on good authority that you stink of fish." She said, matter-of-factly. Of course, her 'good authority' wasn't really good, but she thought if it was another Slytherin prank, she ought to nip it in the bud before it spread through the whole house. She placed her hands on his arms to steady herself and took a big jump up, just to get a big whiff of him. Nothing. She narrowed her eyes. Maybe the stench had already disappeared.

“Oh. So you’ve heard?” Was the absolutely casual, and simple reply she got from him. What went on inside his head though, was an entirely different matter.

He was going to skin that Fi when he got his hands on her. Flay her alive, bury her with a pile of roaches and snakes and stick firecrackers up her arse - nix the last one. The firecrackers part would probably be a crime. Not that Soren was going to do the other two things either, since he wasn’t in any way a vindictive, oh no! ... Not yet against a second year at least.

“It was false obviously.” Soren stated as a matter of fact, “Especially if this is from a certain twelve year old’s journal.” He crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head. “And you can stop trying to sniff me!”

Jackie almost laughed, but stopped herself as Soren started to brew with anger. An angry Soren was not especially a pretty sight, no matter how many girls might differ. Instead, she rolled her eyes and explained. "I wanted to make sure it wasn't another Slytherin hex."

She blew her bangs off her forehead to give him a moment of time to simmer down, before continuing. "Besides, people can't smell their own odors. So, if you were infected, you wouldn't have even known it."

She pulled out the three vials of potions she had concocted, and handed them to him. "So, if you ever find it to be true, I made antidotes. The pink one is for tuna, the silver for mackerel, and the clear one for your general purpose removal of fishy smells."

Jackie looked at him expectantly. "Geesh... don't kill the person who wanted to help you."

Excuse me? Did Soren express any anger yet? Other than in his head which Jackie surely couldn’t read since she was no telepath.

Unfortunately for him, none of the hexes Soren had received in the past few years were from Slytherins. No, instead, almost all of them had been from his friends. Yes, a prank here, a little holiday spirit there, and maybe a birthday one there. Such lovely friends, where else would you find ones like his?

He looked at the vials blankly, not really sure what one was supposed to react when their friend handed them some hard worked potions to clear one’s nonexistent mind you, fishy smells. “Thank you!” He turned and set them aside on his desk, “They’ll be very useful when I become a fisherman one day.”

Now Jackie did laugh. Naturally, she couldn't read his mind, but when he snapped out those words 'stop trying to sniff me!', she could tell he was a bit peeved with her curiosity. And the bit about the fisherman? That just broke her irritation with him (since honestly, she was trying to be helpful). Just trying to imagine Soren as a fisherman... Jackie couldn't stop laughing.

When she finally did a moment later, she shook her head at what she thought was the oddest conversation they ever had. Oh well... it was bound to happen one day. She smiled, a light hitting her eyes. "Well, now that that's over with... I've been meaning to ask you. Did Avery tell you about her conversation with me?"

Avery’s conversation with Jackie? The only conversation Soren could recall having with Avery lately had involved the two girls, antlers, snakes and some birds. No Jackie at all, though, that might have been what Avery had tried to bring up before they had gotten side tracked with the above list of items.

“Er, I think she tried to.” What was it that she mentioned again? Something that had happened on Saturday... Oh, was it that? But then again, a lot of other things had happened on Saturday too, like Erik’s first snog for instance; though that aside, he had been planning on eventually poking the girl for DA too. However for now, he felt like being a little evil, “Got a password?”

Jackie raised an eyebrow. She wasn't about to bring up the DA if this was a polyjuice version of Soren... but when she thought about their conversation, she doubted anyone could act like him that well. Besides, polyjuice Soren wouldn't know about the real Soren's boobytraps.

"Really? I thought she had... or would have..." Jackie studied him for another moment. Only the real Soren would ask her for a password.

"No... but I do have the secret handshake." She grinned back at him, and proceeded to punch him in the arm. Not a playful smack, but she hit him with a bit of strength though it would not bruise.

“Oof!” He winced and rubbed his arm where she had hit him. “Okay, not exactly password but I’ll let you slide.” Soren moved over to the door and closed it shut, putting two of those booby traps back in place.

“I suppose this is about a certain uh, club that was formed just barely a week ago?” He moved over to his corner of the room and plopped down on the bed, he waved around the room to suggest her to take a seat somewhere.

Jackie looked around the room for the first time since she entered. Well... it certainly had that 'lived in' look, and it certainly did look like a 'boy's room', but was there a chair buried in there somewhere? Figuring that finding one would take longer that she would like, she leaned against the bed across from him, unsure exactly whose bed it was. Bran's? Devon's? Knowing those two, the first probably wouldn't mind much and the second... well, he'd just have another field day teasing her about it.

"Riiight..." She said slowly. "The club..." A bit of an odd name, but what else could he call it? She doubt she'd call it anything better herself.

"Yes. The Club." Now that kind of a reply really made Soren wonder if this conversation was supposed to be for the Dumbledore's Army or whether this was some other issue he had no clue of?

Was it more fish?

He could only assume-- wait no, he didn't have to do that, asking as always an option. "What about the club were you seeing me about?"

>ooc; I forgot! XO

Jackie looked at him, seriously gaging his expression. Did he have some sort of other club she didn't know about? Maybe he was President of the Secret Snape Society... or he was in cahoots with Trefor to keep Charlie off Keeper position (oh gawd, how did Charlie's theories pop up in her mind now?). Nah, she mentally crossed those off the list. She knew him better than that. She took a deep breath. "I know I need to sign my name... to join it."
