Are there any questions you would like to elaborate on?

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?
I’m going to scratch both my previous answers to this question. Divination is awesome, but I honestly don’t think I’d be able to teach it well. As far as the Potions answer is concerned, I said I thought it would be fun, like chemistry, but I wasn’t very good at chemistry once I got past the basic courses, so I probably wouldn’t be very good at Potions, either. Potion-making requires precision, which I lack.

If I had to teach a class, it would probably be History of Magic. Having had both good and bad history teachers, I know that learning about the past can be either tedious or exciting. When a teacher is passionate about the subject and has decent storytelling skills, (s)he will spark the students interest, and they will listen. I love history and telling stories, so I’d definitely make this class a bit more fun.

If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?
I don’t think that the fox was a bad answer, but while filling out the original app, I overlooked a much better one. My Animagus would most likely be a parrot. Parrots are agile, clever, intelligent, mischievous, playful, and more outgoing than a fox. Those are all qualities that describe me.

In the original answer, I said that I chose the fox over the wolf because I could not see myself as being part of a highly hierarchical group like a wolf pack. I’m not sure I’d like to be part of a flock either, since I tend to enjoy having some alone time, but I think a flock allows more individual freedom than a wolf pack.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

Creative- I love the feeling that giving form to something that hasn’t existed previously gives me. If it brings enjoyment and inspiration to other people, then I feel that I’ve accomplished something.

Good judge of character- I can usually tell as soon as I meet someone if their intentions are good or bad. I’m not a mistrustful person, but that has never gotten me into trouble before. Most of my friendships and relationships have been very positive because I intuitively know who I should or shouldn’t get involved with.

Passionate-If I really care about something, I put my heart and soul into it. It’s when I’m truly passionate about something that I do my best work and feel happy to be alive.

Sense of humor- The ability to joke and laugh when things go wrong can improve the quality of life. Some people get angry or depressed, but that only makes a situation more unpleasant for themselves and for others. Not that I never get angry or depressed, but my sense of humor does help me be more positive.

Intelligent- I can retain information and draw connections better than many people. This has helped me to achieve more and work less, allowing me more time for fun. It also helps me to understand people better and to see the deeper meaning in language and visual images. I’m not easily fooled because I can usually see through lies and deception.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

Impatient- If I want something, I want it now. Maybe it's because I was spoiled as a child. This trait has gotten me into a lot of trouble in the past because, depending on the nature of whatever it was I wanted to have or do, I've shirked my responsibilities, spent money I didn't have, manipulated people, etc. The worst part is that, when I look back, I often realize it wasn't worth it. But at the time, I thought I couldn't live without it.

Impulsive- I often act on emotion, even when I try to reason with myself. I will say and do things I wouldn’t have if I’d given myself time to calm down. It has also caused me financial problems because I’d go out and buy things whenever I was unhappy, even if I couldn’t afford them. I’m getting better controlling myself, but it’s still difficult.

Obsessive- Sometimes I become so passionate about something that I allow it to take over my life, and neglect everything else. This often leads to trouble because school and work usually aren’t on the list of things I’m passionate about.

Procrastination-I put everything off until the last minute, even the things I actually want to do, so I’m rarely able to give it my best effort. Instead, I just rush to get it done. I probably would have achieved much more by now if I could just get started.

Prone to Depression- Sometimes I get depressed, and when I do, everything falls apart. I lose interest in things I once enjoyed doing and neglect everything that is important to me.

What would you see in the Mirror of Erised?

Ok, so I wasn’t completely honest in my original application. I was embarrassed to admit that I’d like to be a successful novelist because I really don’t have the skill and persistence necessary to become one. The money answer I gave in the original application was the next best thing, I suppose. If I had enough money to not have to worry about work and could spend my time writing, I’d be happier than I am now, but I'd still wish for success.

I'd also see myself having done more to save wildlife and the environment than I have so far.

Pick one or two canon qualities from each of the four houses that you possess and explain why you picked them:

Gryffindor: Boldness- I'm never afraid to speak my mind, even if what I have to say might be extremely controversial. I will always stand up for what I believe in.

Hufflepuff: Loyalty- I will stick by my family no matter what.

Ravenclaw: Intelligence- I'm quick to comprehend information and draw connections between ideas.

Slytherin: Ambitious- I don't necessarily aim for the top, but I have certain standards that I work to meet or exceed as far as what I want to achieve in life.

Explain why you feel misplaced in your current house: I definitely have a Slytherin streak, but I don't believe that this house captures the essence of who I am. I'm ambitious, but only to a certain extent. While it is true that I can be crafty, I prefer not to be. In other words, if whatever I'm aiming for can be achieved in a direct, straightforward manner, then that's the road I'll choose. Only if that fails and a refuse to acknowledge defeat will I resort to manipulation and deception. I can be secretive if I have to be, but it is in my nature to be open. Slytherins also tend to have a cynical view of the world, whereas I try to see things In a positive light.
